Well, my heart knows me better than I know myself
So I'm gonna let it do all the talking
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)
I came across a place in the middle of nowhere
With a big black horse and a cherry tree
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)

I fell in fear upon my back
I said don't look back, just keep on walking
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)
When the big black horse that looked this way
Said, hey lady, will you marry me?
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)

But I said no, no, no, no, no, no
I said, no, no, you're not the one for me
No, no, no, no, no, no
I said, no, no, you're not the one for me

And my heart had a problem in the early hours
So it stopped it dead for a beat or two
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)
But I cut some cord, and I shouldn't have done that
And it won't forgive me after all these years
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)

So I sent her to a place in the middle of nowhere
With a big black horse and a cherry tree
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)
Now it won't come back 'cause it's oh-so-happy
And now I've got a hole for the world to see
(Woo, hoo, woo, hoo)

But it said no, no, no, no, no, no
I said, no, no, you're not the one for me
No, no, no, no, no, no
Said, no, no, you're not the one for me

Said, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
You're not the one for me
Said, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
You're not the one for me

Big black horse and a cherry tree
I can't quite get there 'cause they've all forsaken me
Big black horse and a cherry tree
I can't quite get there 'cause they've all forsaken me

She is just 5 foot two inches tall. ANY guitar is going to look giant sized on her.
it's like nails to the chalkboard. within seconds i must PSD.

Hmm...

Signs of getting old: hearing a song you consider “from not that long ago” and then seeing that it's from almost 18 years ago.
I like it!! ...Woo Hoo!

I like it... let the verbal abuse begin. This song is destined for my iPod, and as such it will be a good song for me. I'm not saying it's a classic that will stand the test of time, but for now I'm heading to Utah for a "pretend-I'm-still-young" road trip/mountain bike trip with a college buddy. As soon as I heard this I knew it would fit this weekend very nicely. So there.

Id be curious to know how you feel about this song/post now
What a disappointment to move from Christy Moore to KT Tunstall.  Just because they are both about horses doesn't mean they have anything else in common and really broke the bliss I was in following Christy's smooth lyrical sound.  What a rude awakening....
KT Tunstall on going green Singer-songwriter KT Tunstall has become one of a growing number of performers who are making their concerts greener. klik the link above to watch a recent interview on Scottish Television about this ever pertinent issue. Good on ya KT!

This woman is so arrogant. Her rider for an hour long gig at a local hotel required that no meat be served in the bar where she was singing. it had to be all vegetarian. Also, NO ONE could eat while she was "singing" or looping he garbage she calls music. Hey KT, dont break your ankle coming down off your pedestal. Flash in the pan. Piss off. Your not that good to make such demands on a venue.

Is this the song Katherine McPhee sang on 5/2??
Yeah. She's an overrated dorky retard, but it was the only song that acutally caught my interest from the show and made me want to learn more about the artist.
Is this the song Katherine McPhee sang on 5/2??
I saw her play live and perform this song, and the "kazoo" at the end is actually a sound she makes with her mouth. If anyone ever has the chance she is amazing to see in person.
Ironic as it may be - given that this is a one-woman-band - but less would much more here. Whoo-hoo'd to death. She playing a kazoo there towards the end?
Actually, nuff respect to Miss KT Tunstall for doing this live, looped, solo etc. It ain't easy! If you think of this as power-street-busker stuff taken to the studio then it starts to make sense. Check out the video at https://video.google.com/videosearch?q=kt+tunstall. KT pwns Katie Melua anyhoo. Or should that be any-woohoo?
make it stop...she sounds kinda like a second-rate Melissa Etheridge.

Annie Lennox called. She wants her "Woo-Hoo!" back.
hahahahaha. I kind of enjoy this, but after a few listens it might grate.

lester is right. In her live performances, the woo-hoo's (and everything else) are looped samples she does of herself. By the time she's added a bunch of different layers, the woo-hoo's are sort of an afterthought. It's pretty impressive to see her put it all together. Haven't gotten to see her live yet, but she's coming to Indy in February or March of next year and I'm excited. If you do a search on video.google.com for KT Tunstall, they have a live performance of this as well as a cover of "I Want you Back" by the Jackson 5. Good stuff! (Edit) Hmm...clapping at the end would suggest this IS live. But in all the performances I have seen, the woo-hoo's aren't as prominent.

WAPS ("91.3 The Summit") has been playing a de-owlificated version ("New and improved! with 75% less woo-hooo than the original!") which actually isn't too bad.
Just be glad you're not her backup singer. Woo-hoo.
Just can't decide. The woohoos are odd and a bit distracting, but the music and singing is just groovy enough. I sort of want to rate it down, but I sort of want to rate it up too. Guess is stays a 7 for now.
Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! Woo - hooooo! ENOUGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No more woo-hoos. Can't listen to this any more, even though I liked it before.
Annie Lennox called. She wants her "Woo-Hoo!" back. (I still liked this well enough. It started to wake me up after the previous set.)

i actually like this song, though it is pretty clear i am in the minority. one thing's for sure... they play it quite a lot for a song with such bad reviews. woo hoo. woo hoo. woo hoo. woo hoo. woo hoo. woo hoo.

Count me on. I like this song, especially the who-hoos...and the tune is cool, too. But please don't beat us on the face :( Jacksonstat wrote:

Ha! This comment made my night.
Like a chorus of owls... I love it, but then again I love being fully clad in this giant chicken outfit. No I'm lying, I hate it.

Nothing wrong with ya. My comment was poorly articulated. I should have said "This song drives me nuts too and and yet it gets played almost every day."
That's how I took it (phew) and heck, I got to use a silly emoticon to boot. The song really drives me nuts as well. Oh, if only I could never hear it again...

Oh crap, it's another owl infestation! Get it away!! I'm a little irritated that this made it to the RP playlist, what with it also being so highly ranked on nearly every commercial radio station these days, so I hear it way too often.

THIS IS NOT THE ORIGINAL VERSION ON THE ALBUM. For what's it's worth I much prefer the real version.
She's wearing some sort of floppy boots in the Later... episode. I digg women in boots;)
Even better live. If the Later w/Jools comes on Ovation again you've got to see it (thats where the live version was recorded). All of that sound is KT and and loop effect box. Can't wait for a U.S. Tour.
Dreadful, horrible voice and those woo-hoos - NO!!!

So strange! I just caught this video by accident, and was trying to figure out who it was -- I thought maybe Sam Phillips -- and when the name popped up at the end, all I could think was "Gee, that's something I'd expect to hear on Radio Paradise." And here it is!
what the @*#!! was that?!?
Guess I'm in the minority here, but the woo-hoos don't bother me at all. I dig it :)

Big black horse and a cherry tree I can't quite get there cause they've all forsken me If you check out the lyrics, that's what it says... not a big black horse IN a cherry tree 8)

must agree...extremely irritating in every way...

I agree, too many woo hoo's. Grates on my nerves. Would've been a good song otherwise.
Yeah, absolutely ruins the song. Got me going Booo-Hooo.
AXE THIS ONE!
wow, this song has gotten harshed here...so in the spirit of contrary-ness, I LIKE IT :D in fact, i even tried to plop down my 99-cents on iTunes for it...but, alas, as seems the fate of may RP songs...it's not over there. and in my book, that's yet another reason to like it :)

My vote, too. It's a catchy gimmick for the first couple of measures. Then it quickly becomes really, really annoying. Too bad, eh?
I agree, too many woo hoo's. Grates on my nerves. Would've been a good song otherwise.

Just missed this which is a pity, as I really like KT. She's also the (guest) vocalist on Oi Va Voi's "Refuge" which gets played on RP a bit. I assume this was the accoustic version off the album that she sang on a BBC show called "Later" - if it is, then you should know that she sang this version live, solo. All the voices and backing are KT - she was using a little foot operated loop/sampler thingummy - she made it all look deceptively easy - a great live performance. There's been a different version of this song with her band on playing in the LRC recently which is well worth a listen too.
I knew that voice! REFUGE is a wonderful song.
Rock on, missus. A whole bunch of lame-ass 'male'!? vocalists could learn plenty from this girl....
Please, for the love of heaven, somebody throttle those background singers! Unplug their microphones! Do something!
wooohoooo noooootnooooooot again ! (just 5 days ago )

hm... my first listen of this one. A bit Joan Osborne like? I'm likin it.
This is not the album version. I prefer the album version I think. Has so much energy, always makes me want to get up and dance.

Love this song from an up and comer on the British music scene. KT Tunstall's CD is only available as an import from Amazon..but as soon as I get the 35 bucks to order it, I so am. This song and "Other Side of the World" are brilliant.
