Only 47. Damn.
At least we had him for a little while - what an indelible mark. Still making people smile.

It's also interesting of the overlap between this and Johnny Costa's music on "Mr Rogers Neighborhood". Pretty much the same, though Costa's music is a bit more busy with the melodies. Both Charlie Brown and Mr Rogers Neighborhood gave late boomers and Gen X an early taste of modern jazz.
RIP, Jerry Granelli, wonderful drummer.

No disrespect intended, but howww have you missed this until now?!? Hope you love it as much as I do...
I just went to the kitchen and discovered that the cats had stolen an entire chicken and were in the process of devouring it.
As I was cleaning the mess up off of the floor (and cursing like a sailor) this tune came on RP...
...And it STILL managed to put a smile on my face!
Thanks, Bill, I needed that.
Right on time, dude.

Right on.
Something from Charlie Brown's Christmas was playing at the house the other night and we were talking about how soothing it was.
It's been with us since, what, the 60s, and it takes us back to when we were a lot younger and life seemed simpler and more innocent.

Didn't experience the Charlie Brown episode in my childhood, but I can totally relate to your mood listening to this very nice music...Outstanding!

Hey! It's Schroeder all grown up and playing like he's been playing since he was a kid. Who knew Schroeder's real name was Vince?

Exactly! I'm not familiar with this in particular, but when I heard the brushes and piano, I immediately thought of the Charlie Brown Christmas CD before I even knew it was Vince.
I love Vince Guaraldi.
Every holiday season, my uncle comes home and plays the Charlie Brown Christmas CD. This is bringing back some of those memories. I don't think that this song was on the CD but Guaraldi's soft style is almost instantly recognizable.

If you like this, I would suggest checking-out the entire Vince Guaraldi catalog. Genius at play!
Classic, what else can you say.

Vince Makes Me Happy
We just watched one of the Charlie Brown movies with my three year old son the other night. It was pretty special having him experience for the first time what I experienced as a child his age. Some things are timeless classics. This music fits it perfectly too.
This is on My FAV Christmas album... love this stuff!!!
A Charlie Brown Christmas
Guaraldi's music just transports me to another place in time that was simple and wonderful — for me, a fortunate and imaginative childhood. The Peanuts helped with their children-only world.
Great stuff, so sad he died so young.

Guaraldi's stuff is so seemingly simple and yet so brilliant.
The one we all know that's commonly called the Peanuts Theme is actually called "Linus and Lucy". Doo doo doot doooo
Fabulous music for a timeless cartoon.

I don't know why, but there's something about the Peanut's jazz stuff that's so depressing. Its so downbeat... I had to play some Depeche Mode to fix my mood!
Depressing?
smooooooove ... Vince was and is the MAN
Thank you Bill for introducing me to more of Vince Guaraldi!
He never really got enough credit while he was alive but he definitely left his distinct style on the world of jazz.... and animation!
I love Vince Guaraldi.

Didn't know the Peanuts connection, I just thought it was great music. 8 in my book.

Very nice!!!
Vince makes it sound so easy! Peanuts or no...I like the Guaraldi Trio.
I don't mind it associated with the Peanuts at all, they were great in their respect just as much as Mr. Guaraldi's talent. A fantastico-combo I think! hooHah!
Ahhhh, I love it! What great songs are being played today!
Thanks for playing this...a nice trip down memory lane and listening to this with my Dad, a jazz aficionado...perhaps some Dave Brubeck to follow up?
I just had to bump this up from 9 to 10. This is simply sublime. Several years ago I "got over" the Peanuts association and began listening the music purely for it's own merit. Yummy

A jazz thing I can get into... (snaps fingers, bobs head...)
Another Piano Jazz thing I cannot get into...
One of those songs that puts me back in college at the local microbrew/pub where the local jazz crew hung out. I guess i could have been at the dance club, but why?
a solid 10 right here.
Great segue from Cat Power. I actually had to check to make sure that the song had changed.
Great Song! Classic.
nothing quite like the clean simplicity of a jazz trio. especially with the signature sound of vince guaraldi's piano. smooth!
this always made me a little sad as a kid, but in a strange good way - like an adult telling us in secret that the world had even more in store...like the concepts of bittersweet and marred beauty...I'd love to be a kid again on a rainy day listening to this and marvelling at the strange world of adults.
Vince rocketh (or is that jazzeth) mightily
I feel as if I should be sipping a very dry martini and smoking a cig in a long holder.
I feel so cool...
