How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
I went up to the window
Lightning banging on the cymbals
I ripped into the night
Came storm into your eyes
My horse had worked the fields too long
My bear had lost his innate calm
It's true enough we're not at peace
But peace is never what it seems
Our love is not the light it was
When I walk inside the dark I'm calm
While we look for where it went
It's only echoes in the melody
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
We waste time on blame and weak revenge
Waste energy on projections
We're living proof we've got an echo
And stop looking through the halo
We carry on as if the time is through
You carry on as if I don't love you
And so we find the way to die
To cut the heart out of the doubt now
The room's full but hearts are empty
Like the letters never sent me
Words are like a lasso
But you're an instrumental tune
How come you never go there?
How come I'm so alone there?
How come I'm so alone there?
I went up to the window
Lightning banging on the cymbals
I ripped into the night
Came storm into your eyes
My horse had worked the fields too long

I completely understand the role of repetition in music, but this is ridiculous. How come you can't think of another phrase to insert into the flow of "how come you never go there"s?

How come you never go there?
We should check out the state fair.
How come you never go there?
Blue lobsters are quite rare.
I think, given the chance, I would go there....

I love how her incredible voice duels with the drums, which are pretty amazing, too... Oh, and wow, that jamming guitar -- I love it!
Gotta say Thanks again B&R...
Loving this track - 8>10 today, it's hitting the spot!!

I was looking at Feist's Wikipedia page, and it lists Mastodon under associated acts - how are these two associated I wonder?

The only excuse I have, is that I've only seen the cover twice.

How funny, I never ever noticed her laying on the lower branch of the dead tree and I've been seeing this cover for 9 years!

This last hour has been a great mix, nice job B&R.
(It may have been longer, only tuned in an hour ago.)

A highly underrated musician that plays a mean guitar too.
Thought it was Ricki Lee Jones until the chorus kicked in.
Nothing wrong with that though.

The newest CD is called Pleasure.
I've listened to it all the way through a couple times.
This one's a little more "challenging" than her previous work, abrasive even, at times.
Not as melodic or pretty, but worth a listen, for fans anyway.
New album any minute now...

Fabulous and talented, but not my cuppa. After a few listens, I'm done. Thanks, Feist. Gotta cursor click that magic button.
Love to listen to such talent

Reminiscent of her art work is the work of Ai Weiwei in Vancouver Canada.
He crafted a large F representing the Mandarin word for grass or some say the F word, anyway it does look like a large tire spiked F.
Personally, I liked his coffee beans heap in Beijing, but that's another story.
Art installation called F Grass by Chinese artist Ai Weiwei was unveiled at Harbour Green Park in Vancouver on Wednesday.Photograph by: Jason Payne , PRV
Feist is the real deal !!!
She is absolutely stunning, a genius and a pleasure to hear and see. And the record is great. I saw her live in Copenhagen soon after the publication of Metals. It was one of the best concerts I've been to.
Yum Yum !

Did I say Tasty?
Saw her at Harvest Picnic in Ontario this summer. Incredible, incredible performance (this song included). Prior performances in the day by Emmylou Harris and Sarah Harmer + pro-farm/local/organic foodies everywhere = bliss.
If you have a chance to see her perform live, it is totally worth it.

.....I LOVE LESLIE FEIST..........too bad she doesn´t realize....
Every time I hear this I love it more.

Not good - not bad!
Me too. I cringe but listen with interest. Technically interesting but Feist never gets me to a state where I forget that I am listening.
Cool bananas
I like this song pretty well, but for some reason I cringe a bit whenever it comes on. It's played just a little too often for me.

Love the time signature on this. 6/4 or perhaps 4/4 alternating with 2/4.

I usually like Feist but this song is really awful. Guess every artist is entitled to one bad song - but does it deserve air time?!!

I'd never heard of her before RP started playing some of her songs recently, but I've been bewitched. Lovely voice, and the background horns and rhythm really make this a song to make you sit up and listen.
I was just reading an article about her in Rolling Stone - she recorded most of this album in a barn. I love the earthiness of the music, and the intimacy. It's a different sound for her, but much better than her previous, more slickly produced work.
