Don't place your bets on me
I'm tired and I'm lonely
With nothing to offer you
Nothing to offer you
The pavement stares gray and cold
Our lives are a story told
Coming to an ending
It's coming to an ending
How could I turn around?
Face the sound of the bell that chimes?
Ringing out, shrill and loud
To drag me back down
But I'm not coming home
Been out here for so long
The road it just stretches on
Till I stop pretending
Till I stop pretending
But the world is an empty frame
And now you are just a name
I'll keep it that way
It's staying that way
How could I turn around?
Face the sound of the bell that chimes?
Ringing out, shrill and loud
To drag me back down
But I'm not coming home
I tried hard to be brave
I tried hard not to be afraid
But trying wasn't enough
I tried hard to be brave
I tried hard not to be afraid
But trying wasn't enough
I'm sorry, I'm sorry
Can you hear the bell?
Can you hear the bell?
The bell, the bell
Can you hear the bell?
Can you hear the bell?
The bell, the bell
From the rust that lies deep in its throat
I hear solemn monotone notes
The danger, the ebbs, and the flows
In the silence of night it lets me know
That I'm not coming home
I'm tired and I'm lonely
With nothing to offer you
Nothing to offer you
The pavement stares gray and cold
Our lives are a story told
Coming to an ending
It's coming to an ending
How could I turn around?

Echoes of Neko Case
Would never have pegged them as Swedish.
Have seen them live 2x. Always epic. Especially their one cover song.
I really am enjoying this. I think it's a mood song, and I'll lower my rating another day, but it's easy swinging 6/8 time and nice harmonies warrant an 8 this morning :)
I'm a big First Aid Kit fan. Thanks for playing them, guys.

I think Bill booted calle01 a while back. I never understood why s/he rated so many songs "1" but still hung out here.
I really like this too. I think I've heard and liked this band before, but they take it to another level with this tune.
Gee, Calle01, your hate list closely resembles my like list. I'm thinking you need to go hang out elsewhere.
Nice vocals on this track. I think this is the first time I've heard it.

Holy crap......my ears need a first aid kit after that
The throaty timbre of the voices really starts to grate. Not good.

one of the few new sounds I heard somewhere else before hearing here. Considering how little I listen to anything else, that is a shocker.
Great album. In stark contrast to the one before....
Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of homeless camps loves this song...
6/8 time signature is a fave of mine. First Aid Kit is also a fave of mine. This isn't one of their best...but I do like it. Nice harmonies and production. I'll have to check out the rest of this album. Anyone have an opinion of the rest of this album?
The tintinnabulation of the bell?
I like a few of their songs a lot. This is not one of them. Pretty good. 6
