I know you must hold secrets
Such a long way from home
You're a lost letter needs delivery
Someday you'll be where you should go
Someday you won't be so alone
Someday you'll be where you should go
Someday you won't be so alone

You coulda been an acrobat
You coulda used what you know
You coulda been what you wanted
You fell for them lines like snow
Press me, I'll tell you I'm looking
Looking for some sign of life
Press me, I'll tell you I'm looking

Come on, give me some spirit
Don't take too much to get me excited
Whisper, I'll listen to hear it
Just show me some sign of life
I know you must hold secrets
Such a long way from home
You're a lost letter needs delivery
Someday you'll be where you should go
Someday you won't be so alone
Someday you'll be where you should go
Someday you won't be so alone
Someday you'll be where you should go

Candyman drives a fast car
He can be there any time
His fuel is anticipation
It's good to feel wanted sometimes
All these expectations
Waiting for my cells to divide
Wait, is that too maudlin?
I'm just looking for some sign of life

I know you must hold secrets
Such a long way from home
You're a lost letter needs delivery
Someday you'll be where you should go
Someday you won't be so alone
Someday you'll be where you should go

Come on show me some spirit
Don't take too much to get me excited
Whisper, I'll listen to hear it
Just show me some sign of life

At first I was ambivalent. Then this song, beat, lyrics: it all triggered something deep in me. Really nice.
Muy buenos. Siempre creí que eran británicos
This album and all others i have listened to are from start to finish - gold…  great band
Yeah… ok… segué from Highway 61 Revisited to this. Ok Bill, this is fine. The meds are dialed IN.
Whenever Spoon comes on... WhisperI'lllistentohearit! (yeah that's the actual title)
i think i like everything from this album. but, the title track is better, imo.

I rather heard Joy Divison/New Order here. If they still had creative output (and/or would still be alive) it could sound somewhat like Spoon, best case.  👍
Great pick, once again, RP!
You're the right kind of sinner
To release my inner fantasy

Cool bass groove :)
Awesome song from a truly unique, jamming group! They are irrepressibly cool, possess solid pop sensibilities and musical chops, and can really rock out in ways that satisfy on many levels; not to mention, they're hip, tongue-in-cheek, delightfully quirky, and highly cerebral in all their efforts!
I was shocked when I tabbed back to this and saw that it isn't VAST.
I feel the tension build and build - and then it just ends….

11 shhh.

Spoon makes me rethink Texas

Austin is it's own enclave, a world apart from the rest of Texas.

I LOVE this band! I saw them in Phoenix probably circa '17 playing a double bill with The Shins and while great, I wish they had played longer than they did.

Don't forget the preamp!

No but The The ... vocals v similar too
pegged at 8 . . . . . now it's in my favorites PSD rotation
So good. The song, the sound, the beat, the bass etc. Great

Adding one ... now an 8. Nice 80s vibe to it.

This is just one of many great songs on this album.

To be honest: I can hear some Arcade Fire inside. Not enough to let them call though.

I probably things over-stated a bit, but there IS a  bit of a likeness. Terrific energy in this track. A sense of "urgency".
oh yeah, reeled me in! Ready For Something Else by Spoon, please.
This renews me when it comes on in my music shuffle while I'm driving.  I like the energy.  I need the energy.

An easy 7 at first listen...with room to grow (on me)

C'mon DigitalJer,  I started with a 7 and then bumped up to 8.  Feel the vibe and bump it up too!

Then again they might not, because this sounds nothing like Arcade Fire.

Spoon sure wasn't my first guess as to who this was. I like it.
I keep checking, to make sure I gave this a 10.
Man, I just DIG this song. Love the slow build to the eventual frenetic tempo.
Bump 7 > 8. Gets better with each listen. Love the groovy groove.

Also gives good Bish Bash on the drums. And shake that tambourine!!

So into Spoon right now, and agree with previous comments about them being the best of what's out there right now. Saw them in Phoenix a month or two ago and they put on a great show. Only wish they played longer (they toured with The Shins). Radio Paradise, more Spoon!
Extremely psyched.

Spoon is headlining the Gasparilla Music Festival in March in Tampa.  https://www.facebook.com/gasparillamusicfestival/
Every time I hear this, I am astounded at the creative virtuosity of Spoon! They are one of the best acts of Modern Music. Thanks, RP!
Very Cool
This is a fantastic album.
{#Cowboy} zesty !
At 1st I was like "oh no, another bad popular synth drag", at the beginning of the song.
But after a few listening it shod it's "bad synth drag" on me and I like it. {#Biggrin}
It IS Spoon after all {#Good-vibes}
Really like the changes

Nice to hear from them
The title of the song on the album is WhisperI'lllistentohearit
Sounds very" The The" to me .... Not a bad thing , especially the intro
Thought this was something new from War On Drugs. I like Spoon a lot better, though, and am pleased to hear new sounds from them!

Lots of deja-entendues - but still unique! Hats off!

On my 2nd listening right now I'm going 6 to 7 on my rating, probably because I've grown to like Spoon so much since starting to listen to RP a lot again in the last few months (i.e. BillG you seem to like yourself some Spoon) - something about how all the bits and pieces of the music are put together, the beats, the bridge, all of it melds together well and I like.

*EDIT* After a couple of months, and having purchased this CD, I've bumped my rating to an 8.  And I love how the tambourines sound on this song.  Overall the entire record gets a 7.5 from me.

Very cool.  I look forward to checking out the whole album.
9...and the whole album is fab. too
