I wonder if that would function with an event scheduler. I have http://radioparadise.com/m3u/aac-128.m3u scheduled as a wake up alarm to start WinAmp. It'd be nice to have the FLAC player wake me up.

I suspect most won't find this important. I just thought that if someone knew how to do this they might offer a suggestion.

I'm looking for an extension or a script that might pull this off for me.

I can get the web player page to load at startup, but I still have to push the play button. I know this seems minor, but I wish I could figure out a way to get it to start playing automatically.

We don't currently have a way to provide a stream URL for FLAC. We're investigating possibilities, but our FLAC implementation requires software assistance at the receive end.

Been trying out the FLAC streams using JRIVER using the streaming option which sounds great but is prone to buffer and is a finite playlist.
I then tried using the link address to the new web player in the URL address tab and it sounds great-not sure if it is flac but it is a noticeable improvement on the normal 320 ACC stream.

The default on the new player is 128k AAC. Click the 'gear' icon to switch bitrates.

I think I explained somewhere else how we do processing, as well as when & why. Saying that our "audio stream is heavily filtered & processed" is not even close to accurate.

Plenty of people find RP eminently suitable for serious HiFi listening.

I don't think the poster here understands the difference between dynamics compression (which is used to one degree or another in virtually all recordings) and data compression (which always adds distortion, sometimes a lot of it, and is evil except when truly necessary). The file he singled out as an example elsewhere was one that was mislabeled in our database as being a FLAC source when it was really MP3.

There are a few remaining poorly-sourced files in our library. I'm always happy to have those pointed out.

Welp, when I'm banging around the house working on things, or have it pumped to the outdoor speakers for yard work it sounds great to me.
Then when I switch to audiophile mode I sit back in the living room, carefully located in my stereo sweetspot that only I can enjoy, put a 180g disk on my Denon turntable and lose myself in some St. Martin-in-the-Fields.

But I'm flexible that way.

Thanks! I fixed some bugs and added some new features. The current version includes
  • the FLAC version of Radio Paradise (playing endlessly like a real stream)
  • the current track information (artist, title, album, year)
  • a playlist of the current event incl. random access
  • previous and next buttons (for skipping)
  • a volume slider
  • the progress (time and bar)
  • a donation button (to show some love to Bill & Rebecca and support their awesome work)
It works best in Google Chrome. You can download it from my github page. I'll probably leave it like that and continue with the plugin development in Volumio.
