It is Thanksgiving here because of the International Date Line, or it would be if we celebrated it.

I actually have a turkey* thawing in the fridge but it will become mole for a foodie gathering this weekend. My plan is to cook the turkey meat in the Sous Vide then add the sauce and re-bag it to put back in the water bath and let the flavours merge. Actually since the get together is down in Melbourne I'll probably just transport the mole and hot water in an Esky so I don't even have to reheat it.

* turkeys in Australia are hardly bigger than a chicken - probably because ovens are smaller. Stores only have them before Christmas, which luckily comes early at Aldi.

and that includes the collective digital droppings and all the trimmings

The Buckeye gals are here and it is total chaos. Too much good food, wine, games, you name it.

They said they wanted turkey for dinner again last night but then they all pigged out on it for lunch. They demanded pizza for dinner about 15 minutes after any local place had closed (sadly, here in Pete, 9 p.m.).

hobbitt was a gentleman and went out for take-and-bakes, which we embellished. Then, after a few hours of cocktails and Cards Against Humanity, we watched Pitch Perfect. Promised to get together next spring to watch the sequel. Then all the ladies went off to bed, as after all, the Ohio State game starts at 9 a.m.

Holy cow this was an excellent holiday.

Tomorrow, spinach, mushroom, and Gruyere strata, champagne cocktails, Mexican coffees, bacon-wrapped chicken bites, and the Ohio State Game. Then a foray into town for at least the Spice and Tea Exchange, with Alexandra driving as she's leaving in the afternoon, and won't be, uh, cocktailing.

And I'm going to hide Jax's corn pudding tonight so I can have it all to myself. I can't defend the sweet potato stacks with Gruyere and fresh thyme. Those are goners. Alas.

Hope you all had half the good time we did. Nothing like an RP meetup with food, drink, and NO driving!

Next year, you all should join us.
