The median Canadian is twice as rich as the median American. (But their taxes are higher!)

Agree everyone needs to be extremely careful in what they say these days. But I judge people by how they respond when something they say is found to be wrong, and the Trumpets aren't doing very well on that.

According to Snopes.com, Time Magazine reporter Zeke Miller quickly tweeted hat he was mistaken about the supposed removal of the MLK bust, apologizing during the second tweet. Thehill.com reported that Miller "sent out more than a dozen tweets correcting the mistake and apologizing" but that Trump still complained publicly about Miller's mistake—“But this is how dishonest the media is”—while speaking to CIA personnel. According to Thehill.com piece, Miller sent out a correcting tweet "within minutes" of his mistaken tweet.

The second correcting tweet:

Tweeting again: wh aide confirms the MLK bust is still there. I looked for it in the oval 2x & didn't see it. My apologies to my colleagues

Compared to Trump's constant lying and distortion of reality about major issues and policies, this is seriously penny-ante sh**. Trump is going to stroke out from all his whining about even the slightest things.

Should've worried about that for the past decade as well. Now, it's just an obvious distractor.

As someone else noticed: the Trump administration is basically engaging a DDoS attack on the media, creating so many things that are cringeworthy (many of them seem purposefully egregious) that the press can't focus on the real issues that deserve attention: unreleased tax returns, the hypocrisy of his crony capitalism, etc.

There is always an element of tribalism in politics but we haven't seen it this naked and unashamed before—where there is nothing but tribalism to a campaign.

The campaign, however, is over. Time to criticize the presidency for what it turns out to be, not what it was promised to be.

that's probably true in my voting  lifetime (1978 to today - see below)

and asking people to use logic, reason and evidence in politics to displace fear and ignorance years of political conditioning, manipulation and rhetoric is a tall order

however it is worthy and we've got to start somewhere

just remember that trailblazers and pioneers often suffer the slings and arrows of the faithful

Op-ed: Libertarians Have Long Led the Way on Marriage

As the Supreme Court prepares for a possibly historic ruling, most of the country now supports gay marriage. Libertarians were there first. Indeed John Podesta, a top adviser to Bill Clinton,  Barack Obama, and Hillary Clinton and founder of the Center for American Progress, noted in 2011 that you probably had to have been a libertarian to have supported gay marriage 15 years earlier.

Just seven years ago, in the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, and Hillary Clinton all opposed gay marriage. The Libertarian Party endorsed gay rights with its first platform in 1972 — the same year the Democratic nominee for vice president referred to “queers” in a Chicago speech. In 1976 the Libertarian Party issued a pamphlet calling for an end to antigay laws and endorsing full marriage rights.

That’s no surprise, of course. Libertarians believe in individual rights for all people and equality before the law. Of course they recognized the rights of gay people before socialists, conservatives, or big-government liberals.

6. Appeared to possess a second-class mind but somehow got his way
7. Main purpose was to save capitalism through imperialism, or perhaps the other way around

Idi Amin, but wasn't he also the last King of Scotland?

*edit* nah, he wasn't born rich...
