As Michael Kinsley once pointed out, conservatives have latched onto the idea of claiming victim status, since victimhood is the status "from which all blessings flow" (politically). They seem to have gotten tired of having bigotry and prejudice pointed out to them. They try to achieve victim status so as to plausibly attain equal moral footing with people who are being genuinely insulted/discriminated against/etc (hey, I'm a victim too; what about me?). The "Political correctness run amok" angle is a well-worn theme that conservatives have been harping on for at least a couple of decades in the attempt to either regain the moral high ground or deny it to those who complain about their policies. I will continue to do what I was raised to do, i.e. be considerate of other peoples' feelings in how I think, act, and speak. If you want to append the epithet "political correctness" to such an attitude as a pejorative, that's up to you.
You are clearly in need of some Doctrinaire Regression Therapy™ from Dr. Bachmann.
I realized I was wrong and removed what I said soon afterward - but good for you for saving and commenting something I had already retracted. One more argument to have.
Gee whiz, Wally. Sorry I read a post and responded to it too soon. I should have thought a bit longer before hitting submit.
My ingratiating and undying apology for being something capable of independent thoughts and actions.

and I will continue with my interpretation that PC seeks to and re enables the old and wrong paradigm of separate, but equal.
I guess that we will just have to disagree on this.

The blacklash has finally arrived. Its not going away this time till its resolved. It is now a primary cultural issue.
A goal of PC is to stop articulate discussions based on dog whistling to be kind. PC is a one way street. Life is a two way street.
A goal of PC is to change a discussion when facts get in the way.
A goal of PC is to stop talking about certain uncomfortable or inconvenient truths and realities, trying to sweep things under a rug, instead of facing them.
A goal of PC is turn everyone into inbred sheep.
At first we were to be a colorblind society, now that is not allowed because it was working and putting muckrakers and elitist bosses out of job.
Now, all are called out for failing to make distinctions and branded insensitive and hurtful for being colorblind.
I really did like the colorblind approach to life. It made life about people.
Now its about firsts. First this, first that. I saw the change happen in 1988 when such a big deal was made of Doug Williams being the first black QB to start a Super Bowl. It made my head spin. So what if he's black ? He was a great QB. Wasn't that enough ? The cream rises to the top.
To me that was the turning point. Back to Identity first. The return to separate but equal. PC is the language of Identityism.
We, back then, fought so hard to end separate but equal. The wheel has gone full circle.
A rose is still a rose no matter what you call it.

Another forum about how people wish they could do anything they wanted without having to have manners or be generally considerate.
Nope, you got it all uncorrect ... Here's the opening post from 6 years ago ...
In this new age of enlightenment sweeping the galaxy, one must be more sure than ever before that they are Politically Correct. In an effort to offend no one, this is an opportunity to share one's politically correct knowledge.
We can no longer say that some one is dumber than a box of rocks. It is inherently offensive to the rocks. So one should say that one is just as smart as a box of rocks. No wait, that can still be offensive to the rocks. Geez, this sure is complicated.
Perhaps this might work. "She is pregnant" should be expressed as "That person of childbearing gender is parasitically oppressed."
or instead of "that man is bald" one might say "that person of non childbearing gender is follically challenged"
Think of the good that can be accomplished here in an effort to make us all winners, where no one is offended.
So what you got ? Does any non specific animated entity viewing have any contributions to the topic at hand ?
