It was cloudy, and snowing this morning in Marion, so I did NOT see my shadow. You're welcome, Ohio! Spring should be here shortly after next weeks snowstorm. Unfortunately, I couldn't do anything about that. PS: Alissa Henry from ABC6 / Fox28 "Good Morning Columbus" was crushing on me BIG TIME!
I wonder if all the groundhogs of the world sit around and bitch on this day, "Of all the woodland creatures these crazy humans had to f*ck with, to project their strange traditions and scorn onto, it had to be us.Not the squirrels. Not raccoons. Not the opossums. Definitely not the skunks. But us. Got damn it."
Back when my brother was going to school in Pittsburgh he and a bunch of his friends decided they would make the pilgrimage to Punxsutawney to witness the ceremony. The mayor came out bedecked in his top hat and finery rapped on the door of the little house they built for him, opened it , but alas Phil refused to come out to look at his shadow that day. The poor little thing had froze to death during the night. I think the determination was made that he did not see his shadow that day. I think they have had a heater for him in his little hut since then.

I'm not in favor of animal cruelty. I wouldn't want them to poke the little varmint's eyes out or anything, but couldn't they have at least have put a blindfold on him or something?
a blindfold kinda defeats the seeing or not seeing his shadow. at least he was pointed opposite the sun

I'm hip...The one morning he wakes up without a hangover and can actually open his eyes...Little asshole*.

From what I observed last year, and what natives tell me, there is always an early spring here. Then there might be one more cold snap and another snow dump in the mountains....and then the real spring settles in. Spring 1 and Spring 2. Very Seussesque.
