No offense meant either - just being honest. EDIT: That said, I'm not discounting that he sometimes makes a good point.

If he said that, he's in the majority. Most people commonly mistake capitalism for corporatism. Honest business person = capitalist. Dishonest business person in bed with a corrupt politician = corporatist.

We've already defaulted. <There is traditional default whereby creditors experience a "haircut" or a delay in payments, and then there's a stealth default. Looked at in terms of stealth defaults, all those countries, including the U.S., have most definitely stiffed creditors over the years. Reinhart and Rogoff in particular pointed to a U.S. default in the 1930s. As they wrote, "the abrogation of the gold clause in the United States in 1933, which meant that public debts would be repaid in fiat currency rather than gold, constitutes a restricting of nearly all the government's domestic debt." In short, the U.S. defaulted in 1933, and as evidenced by the dollar's stupendous decline in value from 1/35th of an ounce of gold in 1971 (in private markets a dollar bought roughly 1/45th of an ounce of gold at the time in question) to 1/1550th today, the U.S. has been in default for most of the last 40 years.>

Sieg Howdy, baby ! By Larry Pinkney "You show me a capitalist and I'll show you a bloodsucker." - Malcolm X "In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist. We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted..." - Dwight D. Eisenhower Ah... Here we are in the 21st century, mindlessly basking in the warm rays of de facto bloodsucking U.S. corporate domination combined with at least four ongoing bloody U.S. wars and military interventions abroad, an impotent and hypocritical Democrat and Republican Congress, and a "peace" prize toting- predator drone / torturing president whose claims to fame are his slippery tongue, his pigmentation, and his inexplicable rise from relative obscurity to be the adorned head of the U.S. corporate/military Empire. Oh...The unspeakable joys of watching the gutting of U.S. constitutional rights under the auspices of the now expanded 'Patriot Act's' so called war on terror, the trillions of dollars of blood money stolen from everyday people for the coffers of the corporate elite, and the ceaseless obfuscation and prevarication by the U.S. corporate owned, corporate-stream media and other systemic institutions. What joy! What sad and utterly pathetic joy in this year of 2011! Today's combination of unbridled corporate hegemony and unending military adventurism is 'America's' democracy. It is the best form of fascism money can buy. That's right, fascism!
