Road trippin' with my two favorite allies
Fully loaded we got snacks and supplies
It's time to leave this town, it's time to steal away
Let's go get lost anywhere in the U.S.A.
Let's go get lost, let's go get lost...

Blue you sit so pretty west of the one
Sparkle light with yellow icing just a mirror for the sun
Just a mirror for the sun
Just a mirror for the sun
These smiling eyes are just a mirror for...

So much has come before those battles lost and won
This life is shining more forever in the sun
Now let us check our heads and let us check the surf
Staying high and dry's more trouble than it's worth in the sun

Just a mirror for the sun
Just a mirror for the sun
These smiling eyes are just a mirror for...

In Big Sur we take some time to linger on
We three hunky dory's got our snakefinger on
Now let us drink the stars, it's time to steal away
Let's go get lost right here in the U.S.A.
Let's go get lost, let's go get lost...

Blue you sit so pretty west of the one
Sparkle light with yellow icing just a mirror for the sun

Just a mirror for the sun
Just a mirror for the sun
These smiling eyes are just a mirror for...
These smiling eyes are just a mirror for...
Your smiling eyes are just a mirror for...

Although this is not your normal RHCP, the harmonies are awesome. I never would have heard this on mainstream radio.  Thank you RP!

agreed. one of my favorites. i was hoping to hear it live, but the show i went to obviously didn't include it.

In the beginning of their careers, they posed with nothing but socks covering their genitalia.

Do you mean the socks they wear over their "dicks" on a photoshoot in the ending 80´ies or beginning 90´ies!?

i was going to post the photo, but after finding the photo, i decided not to.
RHCP = skip

So Funny - I've never seen them perform live and I have heard of the 'one-sock-not-on-a-foot' attire which is pretty funny.

Thank you for playing this somewhat deep cut! Very nice vibe.

Good point. This is terrible.
Two 1s on a row, according to me anyway.  DMB with Tripping Billies and now the Peppers.  Unusual for RP to bomb me out like that.  Still, PSD brings Elbow - New York Morning.  And relax ...
Way past their prime. Wish they would go away, for good. Way too much mind numbing radio play.
Not good.
Just a mirror for the sun...

Agreed - I prefer them a lot more "picante".

Everybody in my mushrooming multitude of churches loves this song...

Likey it! They always play the same RHCPs everywhere else. They lose gems like this. Sing it, Anthony...kiss.{#Heartkiss} Let's go get lost...
You know, wherever you end up, someone is already there wishing he could get away from that place. I guess as Harry Chapin wrote, "it's the going, not the getting there, that's good."

excellent...  love it...

Red Hot Chili Poopers.
Give it away give it away give it away now.

I never cease to be amazed at how much talent this bunch of thugs has among them.
Sounds like they're channeling Elliott Smith on the harmonies. Nice.
YAY!! It's the Luke Warm Bell Peppers!!!!!!!!!!!!!{#Nyah}
{#Bananapiano}
As album codas go, they don't get any better than this. I love the song and the clip.

A Cuban In London.
These Chilis are too bland.
Saw them w/the Stones at the Rose Bowl. Chili's outscored the Stones by far. Blew the bowl away.
yawn....

{#Lol} The Chilis have done some good stuff, but his voice, er, yeah, not so much.

The more I hear comments about how people don't like a certain voice, and I count myself as one of those, the more I begin to realize that the singer has one up on most of us.  At least they sing...

He has a very beautiful voice.  I am not sure he would like his voice being perceived in this way but it's almost like a crooner.
And very Sehnsucht too.

easily the best song on the album.

genius's or not, this is a beautiful song

i'll step up and defend your use of the word 'genius' for which you've been taken to task. one doesn't have to be a peppers fan to recognize how tight their stuff is ... as for lyrics and melody, Taste the Pain comes to mind

Shocking! I couldn't identify the artist without looking at the Now Playing scroll. I've got to tip my hat to the old boys...

I've read both and I certainly do not agree with your deduction of their (RHCP) lack of genius. They are indeed quite an awesome band and quite provocative as well. Coming on stage naked with socks on their phallus's? Pretty demanding from a visual sense. Their music has spanned generations. I liked them when I was getting out of college 20 plus years ago and now coworkers 20 years younger than I think they are the cat's meow! Not a lot of bands have that staying power or public interest. I think its mature of you to let the "cards lie where they fall" but I for one think your holding the losing hand.
SO TRU! Not many can hold on like that!

It's in an instance like this that the word "genius" has become virtually meaningless. Obviously, you're a fan, and that's great, but I think your enthusiasm has run amok. RJCP was a great band when they started, and put out many excellent songs. However, their most recent efforts have been repetitive and boring - no wonder they've become so commercially popular. But even giving them their props for early work, they/Anthony were never "geniuses" in any way, shape, or form.
I'm glad he did not mention California on this one.
I had to look to see who did this beautiful song. Whoa! I'm shocked!

Ouch. Pretty consistently good music for nongeniuses, I'd say.
It's over Johnny.
I prefer red hot's ballads than the funk stuff, this song is beautiful.

FANTASTIC record...cover to cover
Anthony's lyrics were stunning on this album, as they were on BSSM, but lately he's really let them slip. "I give you major, you give me minor, don't fade away like an ocean liner"- AWFUL! (Come On Girl- Stadium Arcadium) so disappointing as I'm such a big fan :(
Waiting for days for this song and this morning the hit... Lovely.
Purdy. Thanks for easing me into post lunch work
This and "Could have lied" from BSSM are two of my all time favorite......that is when I'm not in the mood to jump around and be as care free as Flea.
Wait a minute, I thought this was a rock band??
Anthony Kiedis' song writing ability is terribly underated. He's a genius with lyrics and melody. I tend to like as much, and is some cases more, the lesser known songs.
Playing some other tracks from this album would be most welcome.
Nice arrangements, smooth song, great band. Gets a 9 from me.

John Frusciante, the impersonated epitome of modern-day versatile guitar playing, would struggle!? You must have missed out some of his solo work (check out www.johnfrusciante.com for some material worth listening)
Great song!! One of those songs instantly become classics... As a huge Pepper fan, to me this song really shows they're not just some rock band doing an acoustic song every once in a while. Actually this one got me buying an acoustic bass guitar
Love this album cover. I definitely like hearing lesser known Chili Pepper songs.
This is a new RHCP song for me and I really like it. Sounds a little different from what I'm used to from them.

Feel like road trippin' Love this song!
Nice! Anybody remember that B&W Tony Curtis movie The Rat Race, with Don Rickles as a sadistic loan shark and squeaky clean Debbie Reynolds as a dance hall flooze? TC is auditioning for a band when they ask him to go get some coffee, and they steal his horns while he's out. The band was called The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
this is a hot joint...chili's acoustic love
I love the way john and flea play together
I gotta tell ya, I've always loved the sound of the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. What more can I say? A great song.
Wow.
A brilliant song off of an amazing album.
Some of the best lyrics I've heard from the Chillis, and I'm a huge fan, so don't get me started!!
This is an amazing song from the RHCP's :)
