Basia has a beautiful voice and this is a lovely song , but I can't help being reminded of Mrs Doyle from Father Ted. "Will ye not have a nice cup of tea? Ah, go on, g'wan, g'wan, g'wan , G'WAN!" :o)

I read on RP that the cover photo was taken near midnight in the far N of Canada. It does have an ethereal and spectral quality.

Glad to find Basia here. Love, love, love LOVE this talented young singer! So much power in her voice, great pitch and tremendous control of both.

I get the feeling she has at least two gears that we haven't even heard yet.

I'm now sure that example is particularly accurate.  To say: "I hate this song and I find it frightfully unacceptable that it get played here." is an example of intolerance.  To say: "I hate this song and it's been played at least eight times in the last fortnight."(without checking the "Plays in last 30 days" read-out") is an example of exaggeration or a hostile form of hyperbole.

...there was a time, randomly we'll say -before Dylan, when the airwaves (except for jazz) were congested with the dry-heave inducing sound of the so called perfect voice. They were melodious voices, lovely and comfortable to rest your head on. But did they reflect life?  Or, more likely, were they an Ozzie and Harriet dream for what could be if not for the silly peccadilloes of being human?

Ozzie and Harriet was a lie most people hoped could be true. Johnny Mathis, Doris Day, Dean Martin.. perfect voices. Were they accurate in expressing reality at the time? Answer to that depends on your world view.

So the peanut gallery here, pining for them good ol’ days huh? Sheltered in your cozy home, 2.3 kids and a two car garage..  ‘rather see a perfect world than get a little taste of the wild? If that’s it, no problem. Of course. It’s your life. Let’s just call it what it is though – it’s sheltered, insulated living, under a cultural rock called Main St. ...not a particularly sensitive view of the world outside that rock.

I’ve been told I can be a little abrasive so I’m adding this if it makes anyone feel better   ..hugs and kisses ;) .

Cough that damn marble out! C'mon I know you can do it. Maybe by the end of this tune she'll get a slap on the back. Don't get me wrong, I like the tune and her voice a bit less, but it's unique. Maybe she should keep the marble for it does give her some "identity" otherwise she might sound like the 18,000 other female singers out there.

I'm really impressed lately by Basia, at first i didn't really notice it but the last couple of times she came by here on RP it struck me, excellent sound!

I usually like her voice, but this percussion-happy arrangement is too busy and clashes with the song. It seems to be a sad love song, but it's got the instrumental tracks from an Irish rebel ballad by Flogging Molly.
