I like this version better... don't shoot me.
Nooooooooooo....
This sounds like it belongs on the Commitments soundtrack. Sadly, both Etta and Welcome to the Jungle are much better than that...
This song is soooooo not good for the ears!

Dirge!!

RIP Etta... this is not one you want to be remembered by!
Compare this Etta/GNR tragedy to the greatness Johnny Cash covering NIN Hurt: https://www.radioparadise.com/rp_2.php?#name=songinfo&song_id=33392
{#Think}   Um......wow.  When I saw the title come up, I expected so much more.  No disrespect meant for Etta, she was one of the best.  This cover, not so much.
Very strange.
Went from 3 to a 2 on this one.  This is eroding from Etta's great legacy...How about something else from her that shows her strengths?
Loathsome song redone with some style, but barf-worthy nonetheless.

Wow.  I didn't think this song could ever be believably re-interpreted and covered.  Etta did it!  Sorta like Johnny Cash doing Sound Garden's "Rusty Cage".  But I'd still say Cash doing NIN's "Hurt" is the most poignant singing-against-type song re-invention I've heard.

Yeah, Cash's "Hurt" almost brings me to tears.

Interesting...most of the way through I'm reminded of Talking Heads' version of "Take Me to the River." Except the Heads took Al's "Take Me..." away from the church, and Etta takes GNR to the church. And what a church it is, with Etta singing!

2 Replies: 1) HUH?

                2) YES! I TOTALLY AGREE!.

It lost a bit in translation.  This is more like Welcome to the Petting Zoo...
Leaves me speechless.
Loved Etta.

Love GNR's Welcome to the Jungle

Find this strangely unsettling.  I dunno.
Still a 1 for me.
Make it stop!!! I wish I woulda never heard this song, ruins my impression of her. She was one of the great ones.

Ms James (RIP) has certainly earned the right to artistic interpretation - I don't like it, but hey - she's a legend and it didn't make me go blind or deaf (cringed a bit though...). Maybe Axel will return the favor...? Why not, he looks pretty bored (pathetic) on stage anymore - obviously has nothing else to do (or lose).

Um, I agree.  Not Axel, not good.

I agree - not good, but Axel's version would stink too without Slash.

nothing like hearing Etta James singing "SUCK DOWN, SUCK DOWN..." lmao I love RP happy Valentines day
Took me the whole first verse to figure out what this was.

Cool.

Fantanstic!!  Thanks so much playing her.   This is the second cut I have heard you play ( Groove Me) also.  You have inspired me to get my first ever Etta James album.
cool cover. thanks for playing it.

Never heard this cover before, 30 seconds in I'm rating this a 9.  It may come down, but I doubt it.

I love covers done in completely different styles than the original as long as they are done well.

I agree, and Bill is the source for so many of these. Awesome!
We miss you, Etta.
I do NOT approve this message.
um, no.  :(

Huh.  Hadn't realized there was a way to make GnR tolerable, let alone enjoyable. And yet here it is...

Only Etta could pull this off! Nice cover. RIP, Etta. You made a difference, girl.

This is so cool. Took a minute to realize what I was hearing.

Miss You Ms Etta!!!!!
Etta covers GNR.....way to go, girl.
