He had a strong dislike for the town. He was a "geek" growing up and bullied quite a bit and never forgot.

They built a small "museum" in his honor but he never came back home for anything meant to recognize him as the favorite son of Wapokeneta.

RIP Neil. You are a hero, a legend for all of us armchair astronauts. I love the fact that Neil led a quiet life after the moon landing and never capitalized on his great achievement. Can you see that happening today? Not likely.

That's very sad.  He was one of my heroes, and probably was for many people.  That's a wonderful quote, by the way.
