The taste and smell was totally gone for a week; it's come back to some degree but still taste mostly salt. And dark chocolate and other bitter things like that do come through. Most flavors are really an illusion of texture and mouthfeel (butter and sugar are easy to identify by how they feel but there's not really much to taste that I can't say isn't just the smell). It's weird.
A few days ago, taking a deep breath hurt and made me cough, but that's past. Super sleepy all the time. The county cleared me to go back to the office so here I sit thinking about naps.
Me too
Yeah honestly it's hard to say if that's a symptom or normal.

Update: laptop is operational! Restored from backup actually worked! I do that rarely enough that I wasn't very confident. Have to re-login to everything except LastPass. That stayed logged in. Hmm.
Glad you and laptop are better. Hub and I were just cleared to both go back to work. I had no symptoms but he was a mess for 2 days then we both caught massive bronchial infections at the same time as quarantine. I guess that was a good thing?Hope the breathing gets better sooner than later.

My pulse oximeters just arrived from China and they work great. I will overnight one to you. Send me the address by message here or rhahl@rcn.com.
Don't be complacent.
A friend dropped off a pulse oximeter that I think she might have just gone and bought me one. Aww. Anyway, staying pretty consistently in the 94â96 range.
dont know what altitude you are at, but that will impact it. e.g, 94-96 in denver (5,400 feet) is a normal reading, but at sea level a bit low. feel better
That's why I live very close to below sea level. When I had my second knee replaced last February... on the table the nurse said breath in "very deep". She said "Holy Cow! I've never seen lung capacity like that before.

Mine starts flashing at 93%. But around 9 months ago I hadn't established a baseline when I got the meter and it never got below 90 then got better before I did anything about it (before we had a testing program in place).
In retrospect, I should have been more worried about a resting pulse in the low 40s.If low pulse is a reliable tell that is really important, since no fancy machine is needed to measure resting heart rate.

I would try using it on someone else a few times just to see what it thinks is normal.
Another reason to go to the hospital sooner rather than later is they can give you some other drugs for Covid beside oxygen. I think it's hard to get any real treatment any other way.
a buddy from the ski patrol is the county health officer and an ER doc. He's got me pretty well lined out. Just hit the 10-day mark since symptoms were strong; 7 days since I took the test. So I should be turning the corner any day now.
Should I send you some horse wormer?
I would prefer not to.

New dishwasher! Is dead! I installed our new Maytag dishwasher the first week of December. 5 weeks later, I walked in and smelled burning plastic. Augusta thought a plastic lid had fallen on the heater thing and since we have been using the Sanitize-The-Shit-Out-Of-It⢠Setting, I accepted that and after checking for melted stuff and finding none, we did another load of dishes. Alas, the smell must have been the pump or something, because there was still murky water in the bottom of it. Since it's brand new we can't just chuck it and get a new one, yeah? So we put in a service call and the guy was supposed to come today but OH HEY in the meantime I got the 'rona and so when they called to confirm I had to put them off another week or two. Oy.
So I've been working from home which is fine because I have the laptop that I use to log in when I'm on vacation but OH RIGHT it "took a dive" as they say in the insurance industry. Now it can't find the startup drive/SSD so... it's covered by homeowner's insurance, hooray! Which means that instead of just opening it up and putting in a new drive, we had to take it to Montana to an authorized monkey, where they charged the insurance $140 to look at it, up front, and called back a few days later saying "the drive is dead." The deuce, you say! So Justine's up picking it up now. I'll get to reinstall from a backup tonight and we'll see what's lost. Oh, and it's not a bigger drive for $89 like OWC would have sold me, it's a salvaged drive from an old computer for $100. So I'll probably order the OWC one anyway. What a debacle. And the guy says "it doesn't close properly now; the battery something something" bullshit he got a screw out of place so I'll have to take it apart anyway, I guess.
Oh and I got the covid. It is probably not going to kill me but it's not been fun. I walked the dog a few days ago and thought I might have to call for a ride. I was about 200 yards away. Oy.
I'll come back and spice up this story later. Olive Browndog met Bernie Sanders!
yay! a story! Browndog needs some mittens.
Get a oximeter!! Drink plenty o' fluids!! Get better!!
