He said in his speech just now that he and his administration were taken by surprise by the speed of the Taliban takeover, but not the takeover itself, which he said they knew was possible and they planned for as a contingency. Interestingly, he revealed that Afghan officials in Kabul inveighed upon he and his administration to hold off on starting an evacuation because they feared it would create a crisis of confidence.
I think there clearly was an intelligence failure. I read earlier today that leaders in Afghan localities had been talking with Taliban about surrendering for weeks/months now. Our guys were not aware this was going on?

Ya know, I heard a news story back in April where it was said that there would be long delays in processing tax returns this year. I said ok, it figures and let it go. Then last week when I decided to post about it, earlier in the day, my boss mentioned that she hadn't got her return yet and I replied that neither have I now that you mention it. It reminded me of the news story and upon asking around, up until yesterday, in real life, I hadn't found anyone who had either.
Now if I was the real dick head you think I am, I would have mentioned this way back when when I first heard the prediction. But I didn't. Now that we have reached Biden's magical 4th of July back to normal, I figured time was up for giving him the benefit of the doubt. Upon checking at the official website, even though I had e filed back on 10 April, I found that my return has not even begun to be processed and no date for a potential delivery was offered.
So I figure that I have been plenty patient and can now bitch, moan and complain about Biden, same as every one has done the same about every little fuck up of Trump's. Everyone can say anything they want about Trump, but Biden is off limits around here it clearly appears to be.

The irony in your assessment of blame is that somehow Joe could have fixed this. The last guy....who you like...is a fraud and a known tax cheat. He's been under audit since the Carter administration, and so much as confessed the other night he's a cheat. He doesn't like the IRS....so what did he do?
He cut funding to the organization, and then issued checks with his name on them that had to be reconciled by the IRS. Less money....fewer people....small government....more work. Blame the new guy, who's already said he wants to increase funding to the IRS. Next year, you'll be complaining the federal budget is too high and we need to reduce the deficit (but raising taxes will kill the economy).
After that, you can blame Biden for your slow package delivery by the USPS.
