Joe knows how the game is played, he's been at it long enough. He also knows the role of a VP: the veep doesn't control policy or veto laws or appoint anybody. The VP smiles and sits in the back and waits for the president to die.
Why does it not matter what he did when the agenda was his own? Why is this not more revelatory of his character and beliefs than what he did when he just needed to sit there and occasionally go to a funeral?

No, under Trump wages grew, we were energy independent for the first time and the shelves were overflowing with stuff. When the pandemic hit, the only things in short supply were cleaning products and PPE. There was a brief shortage of paper goods but that leveled out in a hurry. People had ton's of money with government enhanced unenjoyment compensation, savings from being able to work from home and not having to commute, not having to pay rent, not eating out or going to concerts, movies or vacations. Didn't everyone get fat during the outbreak ? One of your favorite pet peeves, right ? No weddings, funerals or parties to waste money on.
People are still eating the same, so where did all the food go ? Shortages are occurring here in the states because Joe is paying people to stay home and not work.
