Uh, no. I live 50 miles away as the crow flies. Just checked the google map. I live within the 50 mile radius of "concern". Fortunately, generally upwind.
I'm happy that you have no concerns for the affected. Neither does Joe or the DOT secretary.
Carry on.
How to backtrack without saying you are backtracking
On the gun thread, he blames a prosecutor (inspired by George Soros?) for allowing the Michigan State shooter to buy a gun legally because she plea-bargained a sentence years ago...
then here...
It's not Trump's fault that he rescinded legislation passed under Obama that required trains carrying hazardous materials to be fitted with ECP braking systems. He put it in the Biden thread, but it's you lefty nut-jobs who always wanna blame someone (and we know who).
Neither of these is a singular cause... but holding others accountable only matters when a democrat is to blame... facts be damned.

Coming from you and your disregard for the suffering of the Ukrainians at the hands of Putin's illegal invasion, that's f#$^in' rich.
Absolutely absurd to blame any single individual for this, especially a President. Congress is in charge of Interstate Commerce and Industry regulations. Just take a wild guess at which party is thoroughly against any further regulations?
(Hope you or loved ones aren't affected.)
Absurd seems to be Kurts MO today.

No, totally warranted. I just posted a picture of a major event. An event local to me, with many friends and family much closer to it than me. No spin. One picture is worth a thousand words.
The first words chosen were to blame Trump. And nothing else. My response was appropriate.
well you posted it in the joe biden thread, so the words that did come with the pic spun it a certain way dontcha think
hope you & your friends and family don't get any adverse affects

Unwarranted assertion, unless you mean it literally that you're happy.

uh, posting that here cuz joe needed to re-tighten the regulations that trump relaxed?

You have a point, haresfur, about people having unrealistic expectations of immediate and full transparency. But there's a happy medium between instant information and 68 days of silence.
My guess is that the Biden admin hoped this issue would never hit the news.
That may be, and it may be that they simply wanted to wind up the pressure to investigate trump before this got out. Have to say, I'm sort of ok with that since trump's actions are orders of magnitude worse.
But I think they are smart enough to know that this would get out. And my theory for most things is to get the bad news out as soon as possible. I've been involved with some relatively high-profile environmental things and when shit hit the fan, everyone ran around for a while then it became part of business as usual. Waiting is almost never beneficial.
He's President and was Vice President, plus a Senator for years. some of these docs were mingled in with his son's funeral papers...
Let me know when Joe Biden
⢠Grabs genitalia
⢠Pays off Porn Stars
⢠Asks a foreign leader for a 'favor'
⢠Claims a Pandemic is a hoax
⢠Begs a Secretary of State for 'just 11,780 more votes'
⢠Incites a mob, some armed, to storm the Capitol where 5 people died
⢠Takes documents, lies, hides and ignores subpoena after becoming a private citizen
So their administrative response was fine but somehow we expect to know instantly rather than waiting for a measured statement that puts out the information after the facts are gathered. No, we have to know right away and then we can complain if they didn't get it exactly right.
The public acknowledgement has nothing to do with the important part which is rectifying the situation. IMO people feel far to entitled demanding that everything be done on a twitter time-frame.

I completely agree with you about the likelihood of misplaced/improperly handled classified documents. IIRC WaPo ran a piece recently talking about the overuse of classification.
The failed real estate salesman, ex-reality show host, incompetent one-term loser, and persistent grifter has behaved exactly how we expect him to.
And yet: we still gawp at his lies, unwarranted arrogance, brazenness and incompetence. His stature seems greatly and permanently diminished these days, though. George Santos is the new King of Grifters.
As for Biden: yes, he's been quite cooperative. But I get the sense that the way his admin has handled this is typical for them. Their response to the initial discovery of mishandled documents was slow and chaotic. True, they notified the National Archives and turned the material over ASAP.
But they should not have sat on the story for as long as they did, and they should have conducted a *thorough* search of all Biden properties right after the initial discovery. They let this issue turn into a slow-rolling disaster.
As was their response to the leaked SCOTUS ruling about abortion: it took them days and days to come out with a formal statement. Lots of anger and frustration from pro-choice groups.
I wonder if this document mess got Ron Klain fired.

Today's new Jon Stewart podcasttalks about finding classified docs. His guest began work on a book "The Declassification Engine: What History Reveals About Americaâs Top Secrets" ten years ago about classification, and was just published - serendipitously. Jon asks the guy if he danced around his living rooming saying, "ka-ching!"
