Yes, I think I know what you're talking about (no Australia), and that to me, wasn't as bad as the one thing they did in the Swedish version (this person killed this other person, as opposed to just letting them die) which fundamentally changed the character. And in the Swedish version M's long running affair with E isn't mentioned at all.

Still, both were, for me, good versions of a good book.

Antigone, just went to your page and read that post and its replies. I'll probably not be disappointed.

I'm now going through the Swedish movies, as a 6-part television series. Read the books, could have been written better, like the series better actually. However, Lisbeth Salander is one main character!

Edit: here "Drive" is the film to beat it seems, at least for the critics and film lovers.

I haven't been so moved by a film in quite awhile...not like this, anyway. So very well constructed with poignant imagery at just the right time....great chemistry among the actors, and perfect variety of personalities thrown together....and an excellent soundtrack. In my humble opinion, this was one of Martin Sheen's finest efforts. He is sofa king good. And so is his son Emilio Estevez, who wrote the screenplay and directed the film....boy has he come a long way since The Breakfast Club. An outstanding masterpiece.

Make sure you have a tissue or popcorn napkins handy....

And here are some CNN interviews with Sheen & Estevez.......those two just frickin ROCK. The whole Estevez family.......and their closeness and respect for one another. Even when some of them go astray.......
