My son (who is 15) has been playing little League baseball since he was five (T-ball).
He has never hit a home run, and has always wanted to....it took him ten years, but he has two home runs in the last two games!
I nearly "teared up" watching him round home on the first one, and laughed hysterically after the second one

My good news is that I heard from the ex-roommate that he finally called the DA and dropped the charges, so, even though I still have to go to court, I won't have to pay another $600 for an attorney.

The last 36 hours or so have been a bit traumatic, to say the least. When things are looking their darkest, it's a centering thing for me to be able to think of the good that's also happening, whether as a result of the bad, or simply coincidentally.

My little list from the last 24 hours-
*My son still has a job.
*Even though he then had a car crash last night, no one was hurt, and maybe some good will even come out of it, as in hard and necessary lessons learned. The ones he doesn't want to hear from Mom. (Expensive lessons, so thank God he still has his job!)
*Kevin and I got to spend the evening with some other RP Wyomingonians, the Ptooey-Hiccup clan, and had a lovely evening
*Driving back in the snow, I was unable to avoid driving over an already dead deer lying stretched out across the road, but luckily not one portion of my tiny car touched any of it. It wasn't a little one, and I was sure it would hit the undercarriage.
*The police who came to our house last night were really very kind and helpful.
*We were able to actually sleep last night.
*I have a job I love to go to.
*We tasted caperberries last night, and those were spectacular.
*As Marty reminded me, the worst has already happened.
*And lots of things. There are lots of good things right now. You're here, for one thing.

I'm so glad things are working out for you! And Sean! (And I hope your other son as well)

With all the distressing frustration of dealing with my Mum's estate, I'm happy that

* I have a loving, supportive sweetie
* My brother here in Texas is willing to help with potential face-to-face confrontations
* My brother in Anchorage is regularly corresponding with supportive, encouraging, and funny emails
* We're having a nice little group of family and friends over for Turkey Day
* I have a job I enjoy and a boss who I can make laugh
* I'm doing well in my class and I'll be finished for the semester the first week in December (until January, anyway)
* I have this great group of Peeps here that have a seemingly unending supply of  and and {#Roflol} and even the occasional {#Nyah}

Ah the fascination of the collective unconscious!  I was thinking of getting some kind of "count your blessings" thread going!

I mean, really, I have EVERYTHING!!  Such a great house; Wow what a neighborhood!  NH rocks.  I have a really cute hubby.  My kids are, um, interesting.  My awesome friend A and the camp group and the artists group; and my friend L and the drum group and the ladies group.

I have a Garage.  Good lord how I love that garage.  Especially now that it's cold and my 6 yr old car is a little crabby on icy mornings.  Oh and I love my car too.  I love the magnets (Obama & Peace) on the back.

I LOVE the work I do.  I LOVE my Mac.

I could go on all day, but then I'd be neglecting the work I love that I have to do.

I'm glad to hear that your son's accident wasn't too serious. I know how shaken up you still must be by it, though- Megan was struck by a car in January when she was crossing the street on her bike and even though she recovered from her injuries, and none of them were life-threatening, I was severely rattled for several months afterward. Keeping a good attitude helps us rebound from the bizarre twists life takes- hang in there! {#Good-vibes}
