ScottFromWyoming wrote:Okay so yesterday I burned all my discs plus one for me and I listened to it on the way home from work yesterday and again on the way in this morning and came to one unavoidable fact: I had a song out of place. I really needed to drop it but didn't want to but I had to move it to improve its segue. Still not great but it's less clunky. I also re-did the start/stop times and did get the segues tighter by clipping off some silence here and there... and burned a new set of discs... ahh, much better. If I weren't so lazy I'd to the Audacity thing and get it to really flow but you poor suckers are going to have to rough it.
Now for the packaging. Hmm.

I always like to include at least one 8 minute or so jam right in the middle. You know, once the listener is in the groove. Something to really sink into. And then a quick splash in the face afterwards to make sure they haven't fallen asleep. Oh its there. but its only 5 mins and maybe 20 seconds... its a definite groove. thanks for you're expertise sweet gal! I miss my texas women friends... a lot. no offense LaP

Set too high you would get overmodulation and clipping Maybe some programs have settings that may take noise from casettes and Lp's out as they record, but I'm not aware of any that do, either. But if in doubt, turn all other programs off, reboot and go for it.
I've had bad rips and had to redo them. Same disc, same program, same computer, same burner. Opened up the file and actually saw the defects in the rip in the wave view of the tracks.
Yes, iTunes does have a volume leveler called "Sound Check" and that does apply to CD burning, but it's not adjustable, it's on or off. There's a sound enhancer but again I don't think that changes the burned file.
