...not really that "strange" - but very mellow and cool.  Kind of spooky, chill-out music.

I'll listen to that later... got the beer and cooking going here, don't want to interrupt it. But I was just talking the other day about Australia's astounding per capita output of great music. I probably won't ever have enough loose change to get down there and just take it in, but I'd be in hog heaven. Back in the 80s I was on a pretty serious Aussie alternative kick and there was a store in San Francisco that fed my habit pretty lucratively and I just gave up... every time I'd think I had a good collection, a whole 'nother batch of bands would bubble up...

I told this story before but hey, I'm old so I get to tell stories more than once twice. Short version is I had ordered up a CD of proto-new-wave-alt-something rock from I Forget The Label and it arrived as I was about to drive to the hospital where my daughter had been born... so I'm listening to that and hop out of the car a couple hours later, walk in and spot Deniz Tek's photo on the wall... he's an ER doc there. Okay that's not such a reach since he's originally from Michigan but still, that was weird.

Reminds me of the banda version of Rivers of Babylon I heard.  No idea who did it but it was awesome.

I have a CD of Australian Aboriginal Reggae.  Unfortunately its not very good and is very poorly recorded.
