Hey Dave, what do you know about the old Sherwoods? I have an S-9910. It's the garage tunes. It really hasn't been tested since I've owned it. I've heard it has a reputation of having a tube amp sound. To me it looks like stereo gear is supposed to look. The reason I ask is because some of the inputs no longer work. It's needs a good cleaning. I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Right. As you know, sometimes they stick audio only on the DVD Video format, at 24/96. That's not bad, but I don't really need that. Since it's video, I really need it.

Amazon has them used for $10.62 right now - very tempting {#Mrgreen}

Cool! I'm adding that to my wish list.

Speaking of cool things, one of my favorite performances on DVD is Stevie Ray Vaughan, Live at the El Mocambo. Borderline supernatural! In case anyone here is an SRV fan.

Is that DVD Video with video? Or DVD Video with 24/96 audio. I can't seem to figure that out. If it has video I need to get it.

Are you talking about the Quad electrostats like the model 57 or the newer 63? They made some decent amps and preamps also.

Speaking of Neil, I've been spinning Live at Massey Hall a fair bit lately. You know how some folks just can't get past Neil's voice to where they can recognize his musical genius? The Massey Hall recording is the sort of thing that might win them over. Incredibly intimate and fresh.

I have that also and love it. I've seen Neil Young twice in concert and was really impressed though the second time I saw him was during his punk phase. I am glad he grew out of that.

These are not planars like the Magnapans are but I still like Magnapans. I built the electrostatic stators for these and a carpenter friend made the mahogany frames for me. I am in the process of building new mono-block OTL tube amps to drive them. It's about time as I bought most of the parts to build them 4 years ago when I could still afford them. They will be similar to the Atma-sphere OTL amps.

One of the freshly made stators.
