I worked with Allie Thompson at a spa in California - now she is really going places as a singer/songwriter/musician! This is fantastic. (that's not her on the cover—just a model)

I just gave it a spin - she's turned out to be one of those genre-defying Artists with the capital A, and a fantastic lyricist. Really good (and sometimes bizarre) stuff.

I recently discovered this band Alabama Shakes. I'm incredibly mesmerized by the lead singer, Brittany Howard. She has so much talent and soul; she's like a new version of Joplin and Hendrix combined.

I liked them better when I thought they were English.

Some of the National's stuff is pretty ho hum and some of it thrills me. It's worth spending some time with.
