Keeping up the guitar duel theme, Beck and Stevie from 89. I saw them at the LA forum. Had a terrible behind the stage seat. So i decided to hang around the aisle for a better view. When I started arguing with who i thought was a security guard asking me to return to my seat, but turned out to be Johnnie Law, he promptly grabbed my arm behind my back and escorted me out. Was having such a good time, had to get back in, so i went to the box office and asked if there were any tickets. She said i was in luck and sold me a floor seat...4th row center, sitting right behind Bonnie Raitt!

I saw this tour in Dallas, 1975 or 76. 4th row left of center. Freddie killed it during his opening set. The encore for the night was Freddie & Eric trading licks on this tune. Eric was having the best time.
Not to mention he has the greatest name in the history of names and it's spelled correctly.
Had to chuckle when i read that. A friend in the city is a huge Clapton fan. He once tried to buy one of his guitars during an auction (i think it was on the radio) and got outbid by Michael J. Fox.
But he has no problem admitting that Clapton never did anything that wasn't done before.
And given the deep historical tradition of the blues of course neither did Winter, he just did it much better than Clapton imo. Winter would have told you the same thing about himself and mention Robert Johnson, Howling Wolf and of course his dear friend Muddy Waters amongst so many others.
