Well, I think that if I were to start seeing a gynecologist, it would be a waste of money, so I still plan on giving consideration to gender differences.

My daughter has lived in a world where she has never suffered from any kind of discrimination. She is an extremely bright woman who has been nurtured along since childhood, through grad school and into government where she has been rewarded for her talents. This thrills me, because I have experienced so much sexual harassment, as well as pre-Title IX discrimination.

I know that this isn't true everywhere. I feel subtle discrimination in my own work place. But I am so happy to see so much progress in this area.

Most of the heroines (heros?) of first-wave feminism (Emmiline Pankhurst, Mary Wollenstonecraft, Lucretia Mott, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, etc.) won fame (and notoriety) for insisting that women were as capable as men, and deserved equal treatment.  Often overlooked, but equally deserving of recognition, were those pioneering women who demonstrated by their own actions that women could be the equals of men.

Lillian Moller Gilbreth was one such woman.

For an example of her work in a field dominated by men, see HERE

Forty years ago was such a long time ago, yet this album, and the early 70's feminism movement that went along with it (remember when passing the ERA seemed possible?) still seem fresh in the memory.

Free to Be . . . You and Me (Entry 1)

Entry 2: How Free to Be was made

How has feminism changed over the decades?   How has our society changed?

Entry 3: Has the Revolution Been Won, or are we Still Fighting?

What is the nature of the feminist movement now? What will it be like during the 21st century?
