I just finished "Homeland" by Sam Lipsyte....a dark humor novel in the same vein as a David Sedaris. One quote from a rant near the end made me chuckle
"Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to corner the market on fish and be thankful for the small acts of philanthropy he may perform while depriving most of the world of fish"

No spoilers, but the few sentences I saw before turning away sort of left a little cloud of doom over the second half. So I think I'll get out of it altogether. I have better luck judging books by their covers. Goth/emo band name.

I got that down, too. Maybe I'll go look at Goodreads again. I think I have like half a book read according to it... edit: 2 books. Still not finished with either of them but the Chabon, I doubt I'll pick it up again.

I have to say...for a YA book, adults would enjoy this too. It is both hilarious and heart-wrenching, all rolled into one Absolutely, positively moving. Congrats Kate on the 2014 Newbery Award! It made me cry. (I had to read it for a work assignment....I want Ms DiCamillo's Muses!!!)

I just finished reading The Hundred Secret Senses by Amy Tan. It is a very interesting, and well-written novel. This post apparently contained an image that was dragged into the post editor. Sorry, but any text contained in the post after this point has been lost.

Just finished Oryx and Crake, the first of Margaret Atwood's "dystopia trilogy". I highly recommend it. I am on to the next two.
