This evening, I had the opportunity to prove what I've always said ... that I wouldn't hesitate to catch my own dog in the crossfire of pepper spray if it came down to it. Unknown GS dog came through an unlatched door and across the street at us. Woman on the porch was after it immediately, but I sprayed anyway. It was a friendly dog, but I didn't know that, and man it scared the shit out of me. Only afterward did I see pepper spray residue on my legs, and then on Weezie's head. Luckily none got in her eyes. Whew.

Dog spelled backward.... I'm spending time online watching animal videos. There are enough of them to last me through many upswings of this virus. Except I need an income stream. But I love the interspecies friendship videos. Those are my favorite by far, and proof that animals know what's up. They do. There are no words to express how much I love dogs. Same for horses. In all the YouTube videos about dog/horse friendships they PICK each other and remain LOYAL to each other. A dog who falls for a horse, doesn't just feel the same about every horse. I recently saw a ridgeback adult dog (if you haven't seen one, look them up) on hind legs nuzzling with a young horse foal. The foal really stimulated the dog, it was truly magic.

It's certainly possible to over-pet someone else's dog. Hey lady in the dog park, I know she's cute as Hell, but don't rub your hands all over my pup!

A dog is the absolute best friend you can hope for. I grew up uncertain of myself in so very many ways.... but our family dog never knew that. She loved me unconditionally and took joy when we walked or played. She protected me. She DID talk... I knew what she meant, believe that or not, but we communicated. I did most of the talking, but dogs have a way of sharing.
