United States will deploy THOUSANDS of troops in the Northern Territory after Australia admitted war with China IS possible

  • US Army servicemen will be deployed in the Northern Territory for the first time
  • They will join a rotational force of more than 200 US Marines by September
  • Comes after Australia signed historic AUKUS pact with America and Britain

Geelong already has the Cats for AFL, which I think is kind of a lame name which cancels out the coolness of the name Geelong. It's a good thing that I told them I barrack for the Kangaroos when I started my job because the boss was a zealous Cats supporter and I never would have heard the end of it. And nobody with any sense goes for the Roos since they range from mediocre to crap so I'm completely neutral in the office.

In terms of great club names, it is hard to beat the Parramatta Eels NRL, although I would probably go for the South Sydney Rabbitohs because, haresfur. And the name is delightfully weird.

This little bit of WTFfery, which I looked up briefly enough to go "oh" and move on... just scored me some points in a trivia match:
15 players per side vs. 13; five points for a try vs. four; three points for drop goals and penalties vs. one and two respectively; certain applications of post-tackle procedures, scrums, and lineouts—these are among the differences between rugby union and what other, quite similar sport?
Although I almost put Australian Rules Football but something kept nagging at me...

Never mind that Adelaide is an Australian Rules Football town. Their team is the Crows so I suppose an ibis would be a good match for rugby. Rugby League, not Rugby Union, of course.

Here in the west of Oz the main premium wine district is Margaret River. There's about 90 wineries most of which are owned by doctors.

Hilarious!

Too bad we cannot 'grow wine' here.  Our family doctors — mostly from Nigeria these days— cycle out of this area as fast as they can.

Country Town Hospital In Wine Region Not Struggling For Rural Placements

"As imagined, this trend has in turn created a concerning shortage of doctors in towns that don’t have the resources to treat half-pissed medicine students to a chilly afternoon drinking wine until they begin making out with each other in the back of a mini-van.

Towns like Blackwater, Mt Isa and Broome have responded to this challenge by trying their best to grow grapes, but inevitably settling for craft brewery tours – which has resulted in an influx of overweight of trainee doctors with sugar headaches in these historic mining areas."

From the Betoota Advocate of course.
