Right now we're seeing a period where bullies rule. Armed, angry (no matter what the circumstance), and entitled. How do you deal with people like bullies?
In school, there was authority - but in the States the authority is littered with people who agree with the anger and are in a position to take it out on the innocent - and not be taken to task because their superiors are in on the deal or hamstrung by rules someone else imposed.
The USA is far past its peak as a nation. People are starving, undereducated or misinformed, homeless, discouraged from voting, and see - clearly - that the people in charge care nothing for their lot. There is no coherent plan for health care, housing, infrastructure - or even cooperation. The country is at war with itself, internally.
How hard is it to imagine a future where, fed up with waiting and trying, they just start rising up?

You got a poisoned well... Election officials and volunteers provide an essential, foundational service. Perhaps we should stop taking them for granted? Mind you in the background, sales associates in big box stores like Home Depot here in Canada have been abused and assaulted by customers due to disagreements about masking policies. I hope we are going through a phase and not trending to less civility, more abuse and more violence.

After a Nightmare Year, Election Officials Are Quitting
The draining work of 2020 has spurred resignations and retirements. In a recent survey, one in three officials said they felt unsafe in the jobs.
The 2020 election was brutal for election officials by any measure. Beyond the added burden of a record turnout, many effectively found themselves conducting two votes â the one they had traditionally overseen at polling places, and a second mail-in vote that dwarfed that of past elections. The pandemic led to shortages of poll workers and money for masks and other protection equipment and vastly complicated voting preparations.
Atop that, baseless claims of rigged voting and vote-counting by President Donald J. Trump and other Republicans elevated once-obscure auditors and clerks to public figures. And it made them targets for vilification by Trump supporters.
A report issued last week by the Bipartisan Policy Center and the Brennan Center for Justice at New York University underscored the consequences: In a survey of election officials, one in three said they felt unsafe in the jobs. One in five said they were concerned about death threats. Better than three in four said the explosion of disinformation about elections had made their jobs harder. More than half said it had made them more dangerous.
âThe fact that one in three election workers doesnât feel safe in their jobs is an extraordinary number and a real challenge to our democracy,â said Miles Rapoport, a senior democracy fellow at Harvard Universityâs Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation. The center contributed to the report.
If lies and misstatements continue to fuel mistrust of elections and a hostility toward those who run them, âthe entire infrastructure of how the nation governs itself becomes at risk,â he said.
You got a poisoned well...

Dishonesty is the Republican ethos so why the hell would they have the integrity to respond honestly to a poll. And also nevermind because I misread the article title. But still... Thank you! I was worried when I first saw the headline...
The craziness continues: one woman was instrumental in pushing forward the crackpot notion that Italian operatives "in coordination with senior CIA officials" had hacked into military satellites to change 2020 presidential election vote counts. She's also falsely claimed to own a $30 million mansion. The conspiracy theory is quite involved and seriously nutso.

Mike Lindell Is 100 Percent Sure the Supreme Court Will Vote 9-0 to âPull Downâ the 2020 Presidential ElectionLindellâs 26-minute video features someone Lindell describes as a computer expert who he said has been reviewing âmillions of lines of dataâ that someoneâwho, we donât knowâgave Lindell on Jan. 9. Lindell claimed that the data proves there were âthousandsâ of hacks from China and âmillions and millions of votes that were flipped in our election by China from Trump to Biden.â
âChina did it,â Lindell said, calling it âa cyberattack of historic proportionsâ and âthe biggest crime against our country and humanity I can think of ever.â
The unnamed âexpertâ Lindell hired to review the files, who appeared with his face digitally hidden from view, said the data had been recorded in real time during alleged hacks on election night, akin to capturing a bank robbery on video. They claimed that their analysis of just 20 of the âthousandsâ of attacks from China demonstrated enough flipped votes to reverse the election results in Pennsylvania, Georgia, Arizona, Michigan, and Wisconsin.
Lindell asked his expert to verify for viewers that Lindell had demanded that they carefully validate all their evidence, and the expert affirmed that âwe validated the validation that was validated.â
âThis isnât subjective,â Lindell insisted. It is âirrefutable,â his supposed expert agreed.
