âThe scientific evidence of face coverings ⦠thatâs been growing. So I do think that in shops itâs very important to wear a face covering.â âFace coveringâ! I wonder if Boris called condoms âpenis coveringsâ when he wasnât wearing those. Over the past long months of dealing with the coronavirus, perhaps the prime minister has often been forced to point out that he is just one of those guys who is too big for masks. Maybe they cut off his circulation or something. Normally, he might suggest, countries prefer the sensation of being governed by a maskless Boris Johnson. So ⦠this feels like itâs your problem, not his?
Republicans were mostly silent. Charlie Dent, a former GOP congressman from Pennsylvania, was an exception. Fauci, he tweeted, âhas not been well-schooled in bootlicking and sycophancy.â
There are classes for those? Dang, I missed out. c.
McConnell and Graham had apparently moved their "expert-level" classes to online platforms a few months ago.

CNN: "Across the state, there are more than 7,500 patients hospitalized with the virus, state data showed Sunday. In Orange County, where Disney World reopened over the weekend, more than 540 patients were in hospitals."
The severity of the toll on the United States was evident in new infection figures released Tuesday, with multiple states â including Oklahoma and Nevada â hitting record highs. Florida has now reported more cases in the past week â nearly 78,000 â than most European nations have in their entire struggle with covid-19, the illness caused by the novel coronavirus.
CDC Director Robert Redfield said Tuesday that the coronavirus could be âunder controlâ in the United States within a month or two if everyone wore masks.
The link will take you to a video interview with Redfield in which he makes the above assertion around the 5:20 mark.
"At this critical juncture when COVID-19 is resurging, broad adoption of cloth face coverings is a civic duty, a small sacrifice reliant on a highly effective low-tech solution that can help turn the tide favorably in national and global efforts against COVID-19."
Mark Gordon, Governor of Wyoming, announced that he'll be giving a speech tomorrow afternoon. Some CHUDs immediately started in on him and I naively posted that quote, saying "from the CDC's Trump-appointed Director," thinking that might get it over the threshold. It did not. I got called names.
Can you see this? Another guy was accused of being a troll paid by the governor and the public health doctor.

CNN headline: Coronavirus cases soar by more than 1 million over 5 days
Also in the news, Death Valley missed its all-time high by one degree on Sunday. The record is the hottest temp ever recorded, 129 and change. Yeah, it's called 'Death Valley' for a reason, but still.
Sure starting to seem like Mother Earth has had quite enough of us, huh? c.

Worked another shift today, simply authorizing PCR testing for people who said the same fucking thing over and over:
âI just want to be sure. I hung out with some friends/I was protesting with a group/Some of the people in my pod tested positive/I went to a party for the holiday...â
OK. (Deep breath)
THE NUMBERS ARE NOT ON THE DECLINE. THEY ARE RISING. THIS IS LIKELY YOUR FAULT. QUIT PRETENDING THIS IS ENDING AND LISTEN TO THE SCIENTISTS, WHO ARE TRYING TO SAVE YOUR FUCKING MISERABLE ENTITLED BORED LIVES. WEAR A DAMN MASK YOU MISERABLE IDIOTS.
Yes, Iâm in the middle of a couple of Negronis. But at least I donât feel so hopeless I want to die. She did. (Warning - this is a horrible, sad story.)
Here we are being told, "Feel sick? Get a COVID test." My boss got tested even though he was sure he caught a cold from his mother who tested negative. Masks are now recommended in Melbourne, but not required, even on public transport. I don't know how you deal with young people and the general wankers who act immortal and self-centred. Just keep on message, I guess.

Florida has registered a state record of 15,299 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours - around a quarter of all of the United States' daily infections.
The state, with just 7% of the US population, surpassed the previous daily record held by California.
Florida, which began lifting coronavirus restrictions in May, has proved vulnerable due to tourism and an elderly population.
Its figures eclipse the worst daily rates seen in New York in April.
Florida also registered an additional 45 deaths.
The state would rank fourth in the world for new cases if it were a country, according to a Reuters analysis. More than 40 hospitals in Florida say their intensive care facilities are at full capacity.

Aw it's easy, I have no problem with it. I wrote in here when the pandemic first started when everyone was complaining about policy, politics and what Trump was doing was that if you follow your direction from the government on how to respond to the pandemic and not health officials around the world who literally had microphones and cameras in their faces perpetually since day one then God bless and good luck. Politics and pandemics do not mix, there is only educated experts and common sense of how the world works around us. If someone is so engrossed by the political partisan propaganda program and sees everything through the prism of the party (I am on a letter P roll here) that they think the answers come from politicians well then, as we in the south say; "Well, bless their little hearts."
And furthermore those that fit this description are not noted for their comprehension and listening skills when confronted by non political language and are a waste of time. Self reliance is the future.
My point perhaps was not clear. I would like to be able to at least be able to obtain information from the FDA, CDC, NIH without having to wonder whether it has been influenced by politics.
Of course, I do also read articles by and watch interviews of non-governmental scientists.
