As an optician (and also having been in the food business for over 10 years in my twenties), I am always washing my hands because of my contact with people and their glasses.  My hands are cracked as they usually are in the winter from all of the hand washing.  With the threat of infection, I have consciously beefed up my use of moisturizer for my hands to heal the cracks which will allow infections another way to enter the body.

My lament based upon the experience of my current profession (now over 25 years) is that most people think that (or act like) hygiene is a type of denim clothing ...

Exercise is MUCH more important than diet.

Make your cardio-vascular and pulmonary systems work hard.

While 'suffering', think of all those runners who claim they never get a cold.

If you are worried about this, don't. Worry can make you sick
Do things that support your immune system
Eat well (50% veggies, no processed foods or added sugar)
Drink lots of water
Get plenty of sleep, at least 8 hours plus 20-30 min naps when you can
Exercise - sweat, clear the toxins from your system
If you want, try some supplements  -multivitamin, C, D, zinc
Herbs can help - elderberry, green tea, garlic, ginger...lots of good trad chinese herbs have anti microbrial properties and have proven effective with past flu outbreaks.

I'm not sure who is dumber: his social director for posting it, or him for re-tweeting it.

I keep thinking we'll hit rock-bottom, but apparently there is none.

When something adverse, bad, unthinkable, etc.  occurs, a portion of society will look to place blame on someone or something: e.g.: "This couldn't have just "happened" - someone must be responsible for it."  The "other" tribe is a convenient scapegoat.  That behavior or impulse is probably as old as the human race.  Of course, how leaders or authorities deal with the adversity once it's occurred is often another matter.

Yea I get the valid criticism for some things, but there are many who look for gotchas in unwinnable scenarios.  For instance vacillating from authoritarian to non caring dependent on the action or inaction of the parties targets applied conveniently to each individual circumstance.  Which right now we stand at fiddling while everything burns will be interesting when hard action will start to be employed to make up  for lost time.  I can already hear the cries of Facism when in reality there are no good answers outside of everyone acting responsible on an individual which we are not good at.

I've watched Santelli...certainly not the first stupid comment from him, but probably the worst.

The pandemic is a good subject for black-death humour.

Bad political responses deserve to be called out.

Denial-ism and disinformation will be mocked.

Bonus points for all three.

To be like Trump or not to be. That's not the question.
The appropriate question would be why you support someone who does politicize a virus?

One finger pointing outward leaves four backatcha.

Well I don't which is the whole point.

Makes sense to me.

If this makes no sense at face value, then I doubt the explanation would, too.  Or that it would be accepted.

I work with the public putting my face within inches of others when taking measurements and touching their heads and handling their glasses which more often than not are filthy, if not disgusting.  A large part of our customer base travels internationally for either work or fun.  P is arriving home from SoCal Friday morning after spending time with her daughter whose cancer is out of control.  More than likely the last time she will ever she her alive again.  She changes planes at SFO which is not a good place to be right now.

As someone who belongs to the group with the highest chance of this thing being fatal (age, COPD and cancer of the immune system for openers), I have been thinking about it.  P is not much better off than me with age and asthma.  Can't ignore it.  I hope it's quick and doesn't hurt very much should I get it.

That said, we grew up during the height of the Cold War when everyday was one hiccup away from Nuclear Annihilation.  You still had to get up everyday and go to school and take care of business.  This time is very little different from then in terms of having to go on with life regardless of any threats to being alive.  I still have to work until I drop regardless of this or anything else that can take me out.

And so it goes ...  Party on Garth !!!
