A jarring illustration of two different presidential opinions:

Biden

Putin = War Criminal

Trump

Putin = Genius

Interesting to call NATO's expansion an act of imperialism.  Hard for me to call voluntary geopolitical reorganizing a form of imperialism.  That would in kind make the UN an imperialistic organization, no ?

Another fallout from Ukraine is the apparent revelation that Xi has evidently put off his planned invasion of Taiwan for this fall as a result of all the international economic fussing going on and its potential implications for China should he do the deed.  Putin may be screwing Ukraine, but he has temporarily saved Taiwan, for now.

If you have hard intel about China's plans you should forward it to the Pentagon immediately! Your sources are obviously far more advanced than theirs, which is only to be expected— they're probably behind on their cable bill.

Lol it's amazing how everything has overt or subliminal messages, everything is propaganda it was linked to by naked capitalism which is really into masks they feel the virus is from aerosols not droplets and so they think everybody should wear masks forever and they literally tweak the many articles that they link to if it's in favor of that anything about masks.

tbh, I don't really care what you think - as long as you think.

Putin also claimed that keeping Russia in check was a long-term policy of the West, and that its economic sanctions against Russia were “short-sighted”, Reuters reported.

He added that Western countries wanted to hit every Russian family with the sanctions, and accused them of engaging in an unprecedented information campaign against Russia.

Putin said Russia was ready to discuss Ukraine’s neutral status in talks aimed at ending hostilities there, but that Moscow would still achieve the goals of its military operation, which was “going to plan”.

He also said the West had effectively declared Russia in “default” as part of its sanctions over the war in Ukraine, and that the conflict had merely been a pretext for the West to impose sanctions.

“The West doesn’t even bother to hide the fact that its aim is to damage the entire Russian economy, every Russian,” he said.

Putin's problem is that he views western rejection of his autocratic repressive government style as being the same thing as rejection of his country. He can't separate the two.  Massively patriotic and massively flawed all at the same time.

Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean you're wrong.

Wir sind das Volk.. that's what he is most afraid of, not NATO. And yes, he's right to be paranoid.

Xi is coming under more and more pressure at home.  His very tight control over technology firms has many thinking that he is throttling growth and risking the prosperity of billions.   The Hong Kong mess isn't supported by most.  The COVID lockdowns right now could extend the supply chain issues, and drive even more out of the country.   I think you're right about the economics....Xi probably assumed the world didn't have the stomach for some of the sanctions imposed, especially following COVID.  He can see an end to Putin from this, and is much less secure in his position than he was a month ago.

Tass, a state publication, reported that Ms. Ovsyannikova was being
investigated for violating Russia’s new “false information”
law, which carries a sentence of up to 15 years in prison for anyone
convicted of disseminating news about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine that
goes against the Kremlin’s official narrative. Mr. Badamshin confirmed
that the investigation was underway.
