Balance

Tormented Beauty By Me November 25, 2010 One purple blossom alone on a cliff, between angry gray sky and dark, tormented sea, tempting the cruelty of fate to be or to not be. One purple blossom shaken by the wind, atop a whithered vine. Grown hard, between rounded rocks, on seashells and sand. The rain falls; a splash of crystal drops to bejewel tormented beauty.

The Secret of Fire

What is thought?

Is it the ability to choose:

to want...

to deny?

Is it the urge to live:

an insatiable need to be,

the knowing of life and death?

Is it wanting love:

is it the dreamer nurturing all things,

or is it merely tears in the rain?

I see in my dreams

a glowing amber light.

Apes have stumbled on a secret;

they have harnessed a flame.

I watch from the distance:

I am a lonely howl in the dark,

I am violence...

I am passion; Hunger,

I am the devil,

I'm a secret,

I am a phantom in the trees.

Nature's silver scalpel.

Apes don't eat the bones:

I am their custodian

their watcher.

I enter their dreams like shadows;

a glint of golden eye

and ivory fang.

Dreamers shape me into nightmares

and holy visions.

Kindness,

is this thought?

Upon dim cave-fronts

you watched me come closer to the light.

You shared your bones

and then we lay by the flame together:

soon we hunted and tore meat together.

Two became like one

and we became friends.

Alas, you would betray me.

Anger... is this thought?

Sorrow, memories, regret...

are these?

The Just Reward

Silence is where our thoughts tumble to;

it's an abyss of doubt and scorn;

tumbled through another day and the deliverance of sleep

'til all's that's left is left unborn.

while lifting the veil of a thousand years,

that sleep of Nevermore!

I'm peering at it all, once again

through the worlds of forevermore.

Once I knew, a most righteous king;

a prophet of the lord

I saw his failure of our peace to bring;

to our world... and our just reward.

Know that Nature builds the props;

designs the course and sets the rules;

We are her master's of many crops

dancing sages, and dancing fools.

Torch Light

There are dark pathways
we dare not take others down
into shadows that lie beyond the sun
where fear is our filter
for the light.
There are dreams that cannot be drempt
There are dreamers who cannot teach
There are islands of thought
in minds transcendental
of this single moment
of this happening.
Dark pathways
leading through grim forests of the mind
where chasing the trolls by torch light
kept the bridges safe...
until no trolls were seen again
for there were no trolls
for the light had cast them out!

One Day For Me

I took one day for me;
just one day
from the frenzied, blur, and confusing daze
that fills most my time.

I took this time to sit and think
about the things I care about
and about the people I love;
maybe not as lovers, but,
always as best friends.

I took one day for me;
I took this time to sit and think,
a few seconds ticking by, reflecting
the world out there around me;
at how twisted and misshapened it is
with wars for seeming important things
cannot there be some other way?

I took one day for me;
I took this time to sit and think,
a few seconds ticking by, reflecting.

I thought about all the fear;
I thought about the hope;
I thought about the losses;
and the gains
I thought about the tears
then I thought on the things I care about.

I took one day for me;
I took this time to sit and think,
a few seconds ticking by, reflecting;
I thought about the fear;
I thought about pain and joy;
about how the sun always rises;
I thought about you... all of you;
I thought about dreams... and ghosts...
and then I watched the Earth lighted by the Moon.

I took one day for me;
I took this time to sit and think,
a few seconds ticking by, reflecting;
I thought about all the fear;
I thought about pain and joy;
and then I fell into obvivion,
until morning brought another day.

What We Fear

What do we fear?
Is it the darkness all around?
Is it why predators,
having eyes of golden flame, astound,
and with physiques inherently riddled
with seductive clues come 'round?

The question, thus asked,
by mere asking, ken quickening, compound?

It's all in the brain
where sin is bound.
In thoughts
whose judgment oft' resound;
be they of good or evil
writ by men
or likewise
shameless devils.
