my brother's doctor cleared him to travel two weeks ago, so he and my sisterinlaw went to frankfurt and then in fvcking bruges. They were supposed to return Friday.... as far as I know they're on a train right now to Vienna hopefully to get a flight to Istanbul. IF not, they're gonna need to take the Orient Express back.....
how exciting?
My friend was just over there visiting her brother and made it back just in time.

I've seen that there are people/groups trying to help stranded folks. I hope your bro gets what he needs quick.

It is a mess and a number of people will experience hardship which is sad but maybe this will wake up some people that when all is said and done there are forces bigger than us piddling human beings. We get reminded by hurricanes and floods and such but there are usually fleeting and do not effect as many people on a global basis. This is ongoing and reaches far beyond a specific location.
Nature has acted, will continue to act and there is very little if anything we can do about it.
The ash cloud has been above the UK since last week, all flights have been gounded since then, It's a nightmare for thousands of people across europe now. I have friends stuck in Germany too. Scientists are warning this could go on for months.
Such a wold-wide mess. I saw people on the news this morning saying that they were going broke due to being stranded. So sad. I also saw a couple days ago that there are some people going to the airports and offering families their homes to rest, shower and spend the night if needed. I hope more people around the world are doing that.
Well, people are stranded all over the place. My friends are stuck in Germany.
Wonder how it will all shake down by June...
