going to my local bagel joint this morning and seeing the usual crowd sitting outside simply having coffee and laughing
I hear ya. I'm fortunate that we can do dine-in with strict table limits and outside seating encouraged, unlike Melbourne where they have to wait a few weeks for vaccination levels to get up.
A young friend opened a toasty sandwich shop that now serves passable bagels. They come in partially cooked and he finishes them off. But better than the donut-shaped loaves of bread that most places pass off as bagels, here. The trauma of living in a small town. He really wanted to develop a hang-out vibe so covid has been hard.
Shares a space with his film camera and developing business so it is always fun to look at the used cameras while waiting.
Some treats for myself in honor of being fully vaxed as of today. This was before the kitchen sink started leaking from underneath as I was washing dishes!
A beautiful little chiming brass carriage clock with platform escapement, made by JW Benson of London in the 1850's for the great-grandmother of it's present owner.
It runs OK even though it was last serviced over 50 years ago.
What Smartwatch or quartz plastic will still be giving faithful service 100 years from now?
A Smartwatch is redundant in 3 years and a Swatch in 10, with no way to repair or service.

This'll probably require a little explanation...
The high school my daughters went to (okay, the youngest officially graduates next month ) has an annual fundraiser for Make a Wish called Rodstock where the students perform music. Rodstock's kinda cool because it's a very open forum and a lot of unexpected talent comes up an performs.
The former principal of the school had special needs children and always placed a lot of emphasis on their acceptance and inclusion. It's looking like they're retaining that aspect of the culture, which is a very good thing.
Alyssa here decided to rock out to some Journey. It was well received. I can assure you, the applause and encouragement here is genuine.
I went to school with Alyssa's dad and her uncle. They're both Genuinely Good Humans, so this has been a nice warm fuzzy for the day.
That was a treat. Thank you for sharing, E.Bless her heart, she gave it her all.
