We-eell, to really geek-out, it's the shoulder of the bottle that does the work, but if by long neck you mean a Bordeaux style, then I see where you're coming from. BTW, interesting though the suggestion that Port bottles tend to have an extra bulge to acommodate sediment is, I'd say it was bollocks, as a chap would decant his port into a suitable decanter, whilst a gentleman would...well, he wouldn't.
