Soft toy? Plush toy? Stuffed toy? Beryl?
Any idea`? Stuffed Animals. Retailers selling artsier ones call them Plush Toys. ToysR Us calls them "Stuffed Animals and Plush Toys"

Be advised this is pure conjecture on my part, Absolutely no facts to back it up.
This is from Wikipedia (though it may also be conjecture on its author's part): The hood (US) or bonnet (UK) is the hinged cover over the engine of motor vehicles that allows access to the engine compartment for maintenance and repair. In British terminology, hood refers to a fabric cover over the passenger compartment of the car (known as the 'top' in the US). In many motor vehicles built in the 1930s and 1940s, the resemblance to an actual hood or bonnet is clear when open and viewed head-on; in modern vehicles it continues to serve the same purpose but no longer resembles a head covering.

Proclivities wrote:Don't your cars also have "bonnets" on them? Here they only come with "hoods". I never knew why the auto industry used a name for headwear - that part of the car is not even on the top of the vehicle. A bonnet isn't just a hat, it's a covering - though of course these days its mostly used for headwear. So the bonnet is just a cover for the engine. Over here, a hood is also just a cover, but one that usually attached to something and goes up over something else when required, so the soft-top on a car is usually called the hood. The picture on the left would be a bonnet (because is just a cover being worn by a woman) - if it had a brim or such it would be a hat. The right hand picture would be a hood. Two nations divided by a single language, as they say.

I lived there, it was boot and bonnet, as well.

In England almost every car has a boot.
I found it amusing. I can understand though, why you call them boots, we just call them clamps.

What's with this British thing of dropping the 'the' before a noun? I hear it frequently, and it is annoying as hell.
Parliament are considering a law on the subject, while the US Congress is not.

Because Britain has a Marxist healthcare system, they actually have more than one hospital to go to .
