what's the background for mother's day in May in the US? over here Mothering Sunday is in March and I always thought it ties into the church calendar in some way

My mom's engagement portrait, 1945.....before all the kids started rolling off the production line. I am very thankful she decided to have her ninth child at age 44—-or I would not be here typing this. (And no matter how difficult, it's been a honor serving her for the last 3 years) Happy Mother's Day Mom!

Mother's Day. My mom died when I was three years old. I never knew her, really, as a living breathing mom. True, she stayed around for years as a bluish form, giving guidance to her nine children, instructing from the Spirit World on matters of Spirit and spirituality. She provided me with a foundation for my Shamanic work that remains in good stead to this day. Thanks Mom.

A friend's facebook status: Mother's Day was great! I got new socks, chocolate, breakfast buffet at the Irma in Cody, and then we drove through the hills and shot prairie dogs. Awesome!!!!
