Yeah, we used to get sample parts of things like ball bearings, where the balls rolled in the races, all made in one shot. Little wrenches and tools too, all made at once. Right here on my desk I have what looks like a chess piece, a little 'castle tower', which has a spiral staircase inside! The original materials were UV-cured liquid, and the part rose up out of the bath a few thousandths at a time. They were very brittle, and would warp if not supported very carefully. They were great for shape studies and concepts, but once we got to the detail design, we had to switch to machined models ($$$$). Today's materials are vastly superior, obviously. Some folks talk of using Rapid Prototype (RP) processes for production parts, which seems feasible for low volumes, but I don't see it ever competing with injection-molding and other high-volume processes. But with the progress they've made, who knows?

I saw something similar in a high school technology lab a few years ago.

I have really bad teeth and in an ideal world would go to the dentist and get false teeth. However, dental work is very expensive and I just can't afford it. I am looking for someone that can help me with cosmetic teeth. I am willing to travel to you. - Location: Fremont

Are you a graphic design student dim-wit? We need a flyer designed by August 12th for an event we are having. It will need to be 8-1/2 by 11 and also shrinkable to postcard size. We have the verbage (not a word) in mind and a sample of what we did last year. Local student imbecile preferred. Can you help us out? Thanks! - it's NOT ok to contact this poster with services or other commercial interests

I'll be more than happy to "help you out"; which way did you come in? Otherwise, pick a window.

The conversation yesterday: - What's your schedule tomorrow?
- I'm not going to the office, so whenever's fine.
- Well I have to be blah de blah and then blah de blah
- Okay
- What time is too early?
- Hmm?
- What time do you get up? Are you up at 8?
- Of course
- Okay then.
- Perfect.
*looks at clock* *wonders if 'are you up at 8' was just survey-taking or if she meant she'd be here at 8* edit: called at 8:45 to say she's on her way. This is what I get for saying I'd do this 5-minute job in exchange for beer.
