Knowing is what I am after.  There are some lifestyle changes that might be inspired knowing the realities involved.  I can only push so hard. This knowledge could be very helpful.

Even with cancer, I have emphysema and I know how that ends and it is rather brutal.  But that damage is done and irreversible.

We need to know what is in her future and how it happens.

I’m not in the game that much anymore, but if it’s respiratory stuff I think they’d usually do lung CT (not X-ray, since they’re normal) and maybe a VQ scan. The latter shows areas of O2 going in, but not getting into the bloodstream. Again, not my thing, but that’s what I recall. And the Covid thing has been causing lots of grief in that area (personal experience).

Thanks.  That would be her pulmonary guy then.  We have the same guy.  I'll have to do some skillful lobbying because of HIPAA.  Or maybe get her PCP to order some scans. The PCP is with the other hospital system in town.  We use both just to keep options and second opinions if needed, open  I cannot recall her having any done for many years.  Me, CT's twice a year and a PET every other at least,

Just read about the VQ scan.  That seems to be the one most needed.

I do remember that during the period of my transplant they were changing port types and IV line connectors and using Heparin to flush these fittings was changed to saline.  An ER nurse refused to use Heparin with my port and I ended up with clots and spent a week back in isolation on the transplant floor getting IV Heparin 24 / 7 for a week to resolve it.  Never saw a bill for that one.  I guess they figured out that their nurse blew it and ate it.  I did not sue.  Could'a but it was resolved and here I am 15 years later with an unspoken understanding of sorts between me and the hospital regarding financial matters.

Only my first two Moderna's.  Waited to get that instead of the Pfizer.  Too many possible handling problems and we never did find out what happens to the vaccine if it got warmer than the required storage temp before using.  Couldn't trust the distribution chain. The wife got a booster against my wishes, which I kept to myself.  She had to make up her own mind by herself.  I should'a spoke up.  Very shortly afterwards she got pneumonia, was hospitalized and has been on oxygen ever since. With what is apparently long covid.  She wishes she hadn't and I wish I had spoken up.

I hear you...my sister kept on at me to get the jab. I declined but I failed to make any attempt to discourage her. She had to make her own mind up by herself.
She got the long white rubbery clots in her leg and heart, was saved at the last hurdle, only to discover she has one of those turbo cancers that has now metastisized from her bowel to her liver.
5th round of chemo started this week....5 foot 9 and 42kgs...I hope she makes it. She is 63.
My other sister who is 70 and admittedly obese suddenly developed some weird blood disorder/haemaglobin/bone marrow issue that I had never before heard of and requires frequent transfusions. I now know 3 people with this same disorder, one in her 40's. Never heard of it before.
I should'a fucking spoken up, man..... At body temp the lipid nano-particles solidify and agglomerate.....there you go. I hope your good wife gets better. There are spike protein detoxification programmes that one can find and follow if you want to go down that rabitt hole.

You are the second person to tell me about these type of clots within a direct knowledge personal family setting.  I am aware that Pfizer just got the boot in the EU over these types of issues IIRC.

How are these types of clots detected and resolved ?  The wife is pretty effed up without going into details since she knows a lot of folks here and I don't want to discuss stuff she hasn't shared or does not want to.  But I need to know more.

You can be informed or not...your choice.

It’s always tempting to think that you’ve figured out something that no one else has. Makes you feel good, I bet. The mark of you actually understanding something, and having it turn out to be credible and applicable, is that you’re not a lone voice ranting in the wilderness. That’s not an ego boost, sorry to say.

It’s like the flat earth conspiracy: good for some open ended questions and some suppositions but, if followed further, lead to a dead end in the world of chemistry or physics or biochemistry or planetary science - none of which have a politics. As soon as you start with “you lefties” then your credibility (and I know you desperately want credibility; I’m sorry) is gone

Here’s a (literal) pro-tip, since I’m (literally) a pro: get a degree in biochemistry or physiology or physics or something similar and then see where your “lipids solidify at body temperature” contention fits. Spoiler: it doesn’t. They can build up in plaques and clog arteries, a la coronary artery disease; but that’s not what you’re saying.

Now - something else may be happening in some people that have reactions, like allergic response or hypercoaguability, which is why I was specific in my correction of your misunderstanding about the behavior of lipids (and there are many kinds of lipids, BTW). There may be a problem with injections, like there was with giving 100% oxygen to babies (blinded Stevland Morris), or Thalidomide - but it at least needs to align with an understanding of chemistry and physiology.
