Doesn't that assume people stop using their toys when they get older? Ageism!

hypothetically speaking, of course

Use the paddles to make a windmill that powers a generator that you can use to charge a battery for an electric kayak motor.

I have found simplifying my life is a complicated endeavour.

I have had some success at purging stuff, but in most cases there is a residual that I want/need to keep. Should I get rid of the 3 or 4 kayak paddles I almost never use or just hang onto them with the 5 I do? Should I not buy the wing paddle I could really use for the next couple of years or make do? So much sorting/deciding. That's one reason I have too much: My last move, I didn't have time to get rid of some things so I just moved them.

There is crap that I know no one will want but still has meaning for me right now. There is crap that is still useful now but won't be in the future. There is stuff that actually has a monetary or historic value to the poor sods that will have to inherit and deal with it. I expect that much of that will end up with charity but that should be their decision for the really valuable stuff. The real crap I try to get rid of. My parents collected art so I have a bunch of stuff that is not quite museum quality.

Then there is all the financial end of life planning that is very complex, especially if you have assets in multiple countries. I have had bad luck finding financial advice even if I am willing to pay. Most of the advisors seem to want to steer you into managing your money but aren't interested or able to do so across borders so they say "get lost".

I just looked up the book.  Going to have to get a copy.  Having a lot of Swedish in me, I must be hard wired to doing it.  65 is when I basically started the process of organizing my music for ripping and selling off with the purpose of downsizing and blowing ballast.  That is the biggest mess I have to straighten up before I pass on.  There's other things but this one smacks me in the face almost every waking moment.

I remember an old SNL skit about a cleaning service that comes into your place in the event of your untimely death and goes through everything and gets rid of all the embarrassing stuff you accumulated that you don't want anyone to find before your family shows up.  Well before social media where you now have even bigger messes to clean up ...

I'm going to have to look into the Balance of Nature product line again.  That's $70 every 30 days for 1 person with a subscription.  A fixed income only goes so far and inflation is killing food prices.

Getting old is supposed to be about making things simpler not more complicated.

I just got off the phone with Nestle and they said that the issues of last summer have been resolved.  They are simply unable to keep up with demand. The demand has grown exponentially. They even built a second plant and that is still not enough capacity to meet demand.  I guess that many people are having a hard time affording actual food and are looking at things like Boost to make sure that they have some minimum level of nutrition coming in.  Makes sense.

I dunno anymore.  Everything is harder and more complicated.

I agree it should be that way but it sure doesn't seem to be. Frustrating

you can peruse high protein meal replacement powders (trying and tweaking)
older usually means a need for higher protein (plant based is available too)
different flavors and combinations (variety can help)
i throw a scoop of m/r with a bit of collagen and other stuff from time to time
i use a shaker with a mixing ball instead of a thermal and just add room temp or cold water
also have two or three shakers, wash and let dry for a day or two
just a thought
