This is a weird take:

“When Joe Biden went public with his situation, I thought to myself, ‘You know what, I’m going to slide under his story, and he’s going to take away a lot of the attention’ because, you know, ex-president,” he explained. “If you’re thinking about prostate cancer, you’re going to be thinking about him as much as me, so it just takes a little of the energy away.”

I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, but it's scott adams. I can see a positive spin in there somewhere.

Adams has left a wake of shit behind him in the past few years. I don’t wish him suffering, but he hurts people. Like Trump and Stephen Miller, it would be for the good of the nation that they’re not able to cause others to suffer like they’re doing now.

Same.

Just playing to kurt's intense hatred of "The Biden Crime Family" - not wishing cancer on anyone. My wife has been battling it for over ten years now.

There's a long history of family, friends and staff covering up a president's decline while in office.

Did you listen to the Herr recording?

In retrospect, as much as I assumed it was a far right attack... he was being generous.  That was years ago.  There are now going to be thousands of people that are going to say "I noticed a while ago"....

It's one thing to support him in office... but to let him run was negligent.  The Dems deserved what they got, and all own a bit of this.  It's criminal that it took George Clooney to call it.  Obama, the Clintons, they all own some of the blame.   The living embodiment of "it's never the wrong time to do the right thing".

Cognition and all of the other "hidden ailments" you referenced are not comparable.

There's a long history of family, friends and staff covering up a president's decline while in office. Bush I had a thyroid condition that the press didn't pick up on. IIRC that left him exhausted and unmotivated. Reagan was slipping into dementia in his second term. His gunshot wounding was far more serious than reported in the press. Nixon was drinking heavily during his second term. He had such a drinking problem that IIRC his inner circle called him "the drunk."

JFK was not a well man at all. He had major back problems, osteoporosis, and Addison's disease. His "Dr. Feelgood" (I believe that was his contemporary nickname) had JFK on a regimen of amphetamine which may have affected his judgment.

I can't recall if Eisenhower's heart attack was played down or not. And then we have FDR who was told by his doctors that his congestive heart failure would kill him in office if he ran for a fourth term. He ran anyway. And his staff and family did all sorts of things to conceal his paralysis by polio.

I'm gonna ride with Team Kurt for a block or two on this one....   He hasn't said anything I've seen...just guessing.

I find the entire disclosure timing oddly opportunistic, given the non-stop abuse all of the "enablers" were getting for not calling out Joe's mental decline.  The "terminal cancer" news has toned-down the attacks... which were expansive and well researched.

The biggest loser (and one protected most by the cancer news) is Dr. Jill.   I mean... she lives with him.  I dealt with 80+ parents with memory issues, and it wasn't that difficult to know they shouldn't be paying their bills or driving a car... let alone running the country.

I'd vote for Joe today vs. Trump... because of Trump... but the Dems really shit the bed the last 4 years.  They are as much to blame for enabling Trump 2.0 as orange Jesus and the disciples.

Prostate cancer has nothing to do with mental acuity; I think our resident doc will back me up on that. Biden was probably diagnosed several years ago given the metastatic nature of the disease at this point. Not sure what disclosing that to the public while in office would accomplish.

As for his mental state, I agree he's been in decline for some years; whether he should have been removed from office because of it (25th amendment) was up to the congress. I think if they would have been justified in invoking it for Biden, then they certainly would have been justified in doing so during Mango Mussolini's first term.
