In the markets, this kind of behaviour might be described as:   averaging down and going all in.

You know a political movement has limited staying power if it is nothing more than a big One-Man show with no potential leaders lined up.  That would explain in part the general sense of desperation that set the January 6 attacks on Congress in motion.

The sad part is that neither party seems to have anyone that will be the new anointed one - except that to put someone on a pedestal this soon guarantees some sort of shenanigans to make them appear unelectable when the time comes. Like Hillary. So I understand why there's no one, yet. Still, I wish someone was inspiring.

(Would love to see something outlandish like a Hunstman/Warren ticket.)

Shane Vaughn Declares That COVID-19 Is ‘The Forerunner of the Antichrist’
“God spoke to me yesterday in my office and said (...)

“Until you get that faith, you’re not on the same page as God, and therefore COVID-19 is never leaving this earth,” he continued. “It is waiting on a church to come out of their isolation and to stand in faith and declare, ‘Enough is enough!’ Do you know why Satan hates when you won’t put a mask on your face? Because you’re screaming loud, ‘I HAVE NO FEAR!'”

“When you’ve got a masked-up church trying to lay hands on somebody for healing, you’ve walked into the biggest lie you’ve ever seen,” Vaughn proclaimed. “Don’t you ever wear one in this building. Don’t you ever come here and bring your fear in the midst of our faith. We are a victorious church. We are healed church. We walk in healing no matter what.

”Vaughn claimed that God told him to “lift your voice and call my people around the world to come out of hiding, to come out of fear, and to get on the same page as me, and COVID-19 will leave this earth from the power of the church.”

It is just an observation.  Take it at face value and don't try to read anything into it other than this is the way it will be going forward once this pandemic is over.  This is and will be the result of not letting a good crisis go to waste and exploiting it every way possible to further long term objectives.  Scare everyone into submission and make them willing to be submissive, passive, broken spirited and easily manipulated.

Fear, a steady diet of.  It is what is for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I disagree.  I believe there has been lots of useful and helpful education from state agencies and other actors.

800,000+ dead Americans is a sobering milestone.    If you are trying to invite everybody to view coronavirus deaths as familiar and family friendly as tobacco, alcohol and automobile deaths or suicide by gun, well, you never know.  That might happen in a few years from now.

I was looking over and sorting vaccine data on the Financial Times website.  The USA ranks well.  Compared to many poor, developing countries.

Let's repeat this conversation in 2022 when the number of dead Americans goes over a million.

On the bright side, economically important US states and other nations seem to be doing a reasonable job of managing the pandemic.

If this is the kind of fear you think I mean, you could not be any farther away from what I am talking about.  While I can understand the things you are pointing out, you're not even close.

Try rereading what I have actually written versus what you want to think I wrote about.

Or MS-13, or Antifa, or Muslims, or Chinese, or CRT, or taxes, etc., etc.

Interesting twist.   So kurtster,  in the context of the pandemic, you are personally willing to sacrifice how many hundreds of thousands of American lives in the name of freedom and 'living better'?

Aren't you glad you didn't vote?

I see nothing wrong with changing our voting system, including making it more secure (e.g, snail mail and drop boxes in the 21st century?).
I think the problem with the GOP push is how they falsely claim election fraud as the reason, rather than working with the democrats to create an overall, more fair and secure system.
But that's politics in the 21st century.
