The Tokens sang at my senior prom in NJ in 1969. Besides "The Lion Sleeps Tonight", their repetoire that night were TV commercial jingles. Whatever!

A friend who sees/knows every musician (Forbert calls him to talk about how hard parenting is, Margo Timmons calls to him from the stage) recently said that the BEST show heâs ever seen was a recent Dolly show. Wow.

That's an odd pairing, but I would have been down to sample both. I have a good friend who is a dyed-in-the-wool, obsessive metalhead. He saw The Cure on the Disintegration tour and still to this day says it's the best concert he's ever gone to. They are jaw-droppingly good and the addition of Reeves Gabrels to the lineup was a stroke of genius.
Serious artistry is hard to deny.
Also, I'm a lover of music in general, but Disintegration fed me for awhile too there in my late thirties. I wasn't new to the band but I guess the music was so meloncholicious and good and I was
in a place and it caught me up. I'll sing Plainsong at an open mic if someone knows it and plays the keys lol. With a spacey mix on the harmonica. What a thrill.

Yeah, we came with ponchos & umbrellas, but it never mustered up more than a light drizzle. We listened to most of their discography during the drive to Denver, and it's kind of reignited an obsession for me. It's neat to think that a band I latched onto at 13 years old can still wow.
