My first concert was at the Miami baseball stadium in '76 to see the infamous Frampton Comes Alive Tour. I was barely 15 and should not have been there. But I know I loved it and all the energy. Frampton always puts on a great show. I tried to see him when ever he came to Dallas and he never disappointed. I was at the show when he played the entire "Frampton Comes Alive" album and then some. The guy at the merch table couldn't believe I was at the original '76 show - I even showed him my ID.
Frampton is back out this summer and while I now live in Gainesville, FL and nothing comes here - he is going to be in St Augustine which is only 90 minutes away. I'm hoping to see him!
January 1967, Fillmore West:
The Dead, Junior Wellsâ Chicago Blues Band, and the Doors at the Fillmore Auditorium. After that concert, I went to as many shows as I could at the Fillmore, Winterland, Avalon Ballroom, and other venues I can't remember.
Note:
U2 opened for a deservedly long-forgotten
metal band named Barooga Bandit. Though only 150 people turned up at the 500-capacity club, their response was so enthusiastic that the band
came back out for not one, but two encores. By the time Barooga takes
the stage, only 40 people are in the audience (some of them being U2 and
their road crew before the lads also went out front to chat with fans).
Googling David Blue lead me to this Rolling Stone article. With videos. Amazing to learn that he was friends with Dylan and Joni, and many others, but what a sad end!
that was a great read! we need a new thread: funny funerals
Yes, the watch alarm going off, in the casket, must have been a startling hoot!
side note: The Internets earned their keep today; allowing me to find a video of the opening act on a midwest tour for a band with two albums. Half a century ago (rounded to the nearest half-century).
Absolutely they did. I was pretty amazed by that, as well.
And that you can remember that far back. Jkjkjk
They're trying really, really hard to rock, but falling a little short, I think. The movements are all there...jumping and whatnot. I like the dude making sweet, sweet love to the bass. Ratt literally rocked my face off. I couldn't even do anything but stand there in complete awe.

I had to look up the opening band for Van Halen when I saw them. Don't remember this AT ALL

Van Halen with Ratt opening up for them. Went with my brother. I was shocked, amazed, mortified, then instantly hooked on live shows. I was 12 or 13....I can't even remember. It was a GREAT time!
