In 1994, Russell found himself unexpectedly allied with the rap group 2 Live Crew when the group was sued for copyright infringement for their parody of the song "Oh, Pretty Woman". The case went to the U.S. Supreme Court, where Russell and the members of 2 Live Crew argued that song parodies were protected under fair use. The Supreme Court agreed and ruled in favor of Russell and 2 Live Crew (Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc.)

The guy was a real hoot and took on everyone.  Made me smile and laugh like few others.

Willis Reed - NY Knick and NBA Hall of Fame Center - 80

It was Reed’s willingness to play hurt that brought him his greatest measure of respect and fame, and his grittiness was never more exemplified and celebrated than on May 8, 1970, in the decisive game of the National Basketball Association finals.

Days earlier, he had torn a right tensor muscle, which originates in the hip and extends to the thigh, while driving to the basket on Chamberlain during the first quarter of Game 5 at Madison Square Garden — a game the Knicks rallied to win without him.

He was one of my favorites back in those days.  RIP Willis.

Jim Gordon, Top Rock Drummer With a Troubled Life, Dies at 77

I didn't really know of him, but it's pretty impressive when  Clapton says...“When people say that Jim Gordon is the greatest rock ’n’ roll drummer who ever lived... I think it’s true, beyond anybody.” ...
Jim Gordon, an intense-looking young man with a big mop of curly hair, playing the drums in a studio. He is wearing dark clothes and has headphones on.

He was amazing, and so troubled. I hope he has found peace, at the last.

I didn’t see much of John Wick, but in the wire and especially Bosch he put on a clinic . What a talent. Really sad to see him go. He was too young .
