Having spent the better part of my life in the Seattle area, I've grown to love the musical diversity this city's artists have offered the world, in music and influence. From the Sonics, The Floating Bridge, The Daily Flash, and many other 60's bands to Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The Posies, YFF, The Squirrels, The U-Men, Mudhoney, and so many more, this city has never ceased to amaze me. You could go to Wikipedia and look up Seattle Bands, but for me the listing isn't accurate on many fronts. For instance, Nirvana is not a band from Seattle, but from Aberdeen, WA. Without going into detail of all the origins of all the bands due to the lengthy list, I would suggest to anyone else interested in the Seattle sound(s) to check the Wikipedia list to Youtube, and see/experience what's out there. If I had to pick my current favorite band from Seattle, it would have to be a mostly unknown band called Manooghi Hi. I hope these guys/gals hit the big time - they deserve it! BTW: Grunge was dead (here) long before it became a national obsession. Long live rock!

Technique is the decisive factor.

I didn't realize that I was ranting about any one particular band, or style for that  matter, and maybe I should have just said that I'm currently enjoying a CD from an unknown band. I'm not here to  'promote', but simply to help educate those around that they 'might' enjoy something I do from my part of the world. I've been listening to RP for about 3 years, and just never bothered to sign up/in, because I just knew someone would come along and tell me the ins/outs - it's a given with just about anything anymore having to do with being on line. Seems a guy can't even post a thought anymore without being told his thoughts are questionable, or heaven forbid, myself or anyone else for that matter might have an ulterior motive.
I used  to live for music, now it's just background stuff, ambient noise that helps get me through the day. It's one of the reasons I enjoy listening to RP. Non-stop, 24/7, no commercials... Another reason I listen to RP is because I found that I love the diversity in the music, just like I love the diversity of music in my part of the world on any given night. That said, I'm sorry if I broke a rule or whatever. I didn't realized that I had to be a troll on this site first, before a thought wouldn't be subjected to criticism.

OV's right - folks who suddenly show up raving about a band tend to be viewed with suspicion here - there's history of "street teams", shills and more trying to abuse the openness provided by the folks who run this place. {#Doh}

If you settle in for a bit first, get the feel of the place, rate stuff and maybe drop comments on a few songs, perhaps even contribute to the forums - who knows, you might get to like it. And you'd be less likely to be treated like a doorstepping evangelist trying to spread the word when we'd rather be sitting back listening to the music {#Music}
