So just how far down do you want to go?
And we could talk it out over a cup of Joe
And you could look deep into my eyes
Like I was a supermodel
Uh huh!

Well it's just you and me baby
No one else we can trust
We'll say nothin' to no one
No how or we'll bust
And never crack a smile or flinch or cry
For nobody
Unh uh

So give your ID card to the border guard
Yeah, your alias says you're Captain Jean-Luc Picard
Of the United Federation of Planets
Cause he won't speak English anyway

Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people
So meet me at the mission at midnight
We'll divvy up there
Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people
Well I got the pistol
So I'll keep the pesos
Yeah, and that seems fair

So put the sugar in the tank of the sheriff's car
And slash the deputy's tires so they won't get very far
When they finally get the word that there's been a hold-up
Uh huh

Give your ID card to the border guard
Yeah, your alias says you're Captain Jean-Luc Picard
Of the United Federation of Planets
Cause he won't speak English anyway

Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people
So meet me at the mission at midnight
We'll divvy up there
Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people
Well I got the pistol
So I'll keep the pesos
Yeah, and that seems fair
Well that seems fair
That seems fair
That seems fair, yeah yeah

Give your ID card to the border guard
Yeah, your alias says you're Captain Jean-Luc Picard
Of the United Federation of Planets
Cause he won't speak English anyway

Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people
So meet me at the mission at midnight

Well that seems fair

A shot of FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing less than a 9 from me...
I've always loved this; what a rockin' HOOT!
Diggin' some old Cracker, feelin' some Teen Angst...
I don't know what the world may need
but a V-8 engine's a good start for me
Think I'll drive and find a place to be SURLY...

Great tune, has a Star Trek reference.

My mistake. This song is racist as hell. So, if someone speaks a different language, they are somehow "stupid?" Get this bullshit song off the playlist, Steve.

have a cup of tea and calm down a bit sweet cheeks. ;-)

I like it!! I used to hear it a lot on the radio and never knew who it was. Thank You RP!

I'm not really sure this can be qualified as a "Gem"  Maybe a semi precious rhinestone.   Or ,   A rock you find stuck in your tire perhaps hat has gotten slightly shiny from the constant wear due to the tire rotation.   Bu a gem, nahhh
ooh, i had forgotten about this gem!  i love RP for dusting off these "oldies."  Thanks Bill!
This is a great fun song with great guitar and fun lyrics.
I enjoy it and feel bad for anyone who can't.
Well I like this song. It rocks pretty darn good imo, and "Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people"? No truer words have ever been spoken.
...so bad, my 8 year old nephew is a better drummer than this yahoo. these guys suck
pseudo-retro glamrock? (still kinda catchy)

Man oh man, this song was overplayed in the '90s. Sick of it within 30 seconds now, despite not having heard it in a couple of decades.
Love this album.  Great TexMex 90's rock feel,
Surprisingly, my first time hearing song.  Quite likeable -  at first I thought I was discovering a Cracker song I somehow missed along the way.
Very mid 90’s
Love it! GreenCrackerDay! w/a wee bit o MatthewSweet. The world is full of stupid people That seemed fair.
This reminds me quite a bit of The Bears (an Adrian Belew band) and the Psychodots (most of whom are in the Bears).

It would be great if Radioparadise would play some BEARS, please! They are a fantastic, fun and overlooked band. Their first album is likely their very best, but all are good.
I really hope this is the theme/credits song for the new Star Trek Picard TV show...
Bill is crushing it this morning (US EST)! It's like you're in my head and playing what I need to hear.

I trawled through the comments way back to 2002 and no mention of the naming of this album as a sort of 'homage' to The Who's compilation album "Meaty, beefy, big and bouncy" from 1971.

Just thought I would throw that in for a bit of nostalgia.

Good bit of nostalgia, it is surprising it hadn't been mentioned previously, but the title was "Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy"
it's bitchen to hear this song on this station!
Where is the repeat button for songs like this Bill?
{#Bananajam}just a fun one!

Kind of made the blueprint for The Presidents of the USA, I think... I like how they were right between righteous rock and winking pop...

Interesting connection, but PUSA were doing their thing simultaneously.

I dig tongue-in-cheek lyrics, with plenty of power chords, so I guess that explains me being fans of both bands.
I haven't heard this in years...nice choice. Keep the surprises coming!
Very timely, headed down tomorrow to Puerto Penasco for Circus Meximus, featuring Roger Clyne and the Refreshments.  I got the pistols....

Well, that's basic, solid 1-2 by the numbers party rock and roll. Kick ass guitar.
Good stuff!
Love Roger Clyne !!!  Mix in a bit more please Bill....thanks !

Hooray for our local boys! Spent some time in college following these guys around town.....after the Gin Blossoms left.

I loved this song in '96!
RCPM is one of my all time favorites.  Good straight up rock and Roger is a great lyricist.  Maybe not poetic or cryptic in that way so many know-it-alls seem to like just because they don't know what the hell the lyrics mean.  Roger.....no prob getting the point of the song.  Can't wait for 9/19/2015....been a while!!!
Another nice eclectic selection Bill.  Certainly will not make everyone happy but I like it!
Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers  :)

Actually, I was thinking the exact oppostite. I liked it a lot when it first came out, but is not wearing like a favorite pair of jeans, does not hold up under oversaturation, meh.

Weak.
What if the border guard has a Universal Translator, Jean-Luc?

Thank you ever so much for not using that horrible little barfing emoticon. {#Notworthy}  Erm, and there IS a second verse (the "sugar in the tank" one)? The singing is "idiotic" because the lead singer sings that way (think "Green Day")?  The "lame guitar riffs" are just simple because this was a throwaway song and they have much better stuff on the CD but this was so much fun?

Yes

This song always makes me laugh.  The video was so cute.
Sounds like something Billy Joel would do....
I love this song.  Such snarky, snappy lyrics, and a sort of "Thelma and Louise" feel to it.

So just how far down do you want to go
And we could talk it out over a cup of joe
And you could look deep into my eyes
Like I was a super-model
Uh-huh

Well, it's you and me baby no one else we can trust

likely a repeat on my part but:
No truer words have been sung......"Everybody knows, the world is full of stupid people"
They seem to be poppy, perfect mediocrity at best.
Hated it then, hate it now.
And I'm trying to decide between Excellent and Outstanding.
Good old rock and roll {#Dancingbanana}

I am trying to decide whether this is more "marginal" or "sucko-barfo"....

Wow... I have had this cd for a long time.  As I recall this was the only decent song on this album... I'll have to give it another listen.
This song has aged better than I would have thought.
Great song.  Good album.

Have had this since it came out and only hear it when it comes up on random.

Too much damned good music out there.

The Cars - Moving In Stereo
Suzanne Vega - Blood Makes Noise
Beatles - Come Together

I'm up!  I'm awake! (throat clearing).
Love this set (27 here)
5 for the song, +1 for the LP cover.
Sorry, I have to break ranks with the majority of comments...I think this song is poo poo; canned cheese.

Thanks, RP!!! I've heard this song before (had it on a mix tape from a friend when I was in high school) but I never  figured out who it was by. Awesome.
This reminds me that "The Rugburns" should be welcome at RP too. =P
LOVE this album! Good time, hard drinkin tunes
I do really love this song, but I don't think it fits on RP.
